Justice Dept. Likely To Let FBI Investigate Americans Based On Race, Other Traits Alone, No Evidence Necessary
- Worth re-Posting!
When the Nazis came for the communists,
I remained silent;
I was not a communist.
When they locked up the social democrats,
I remained silent;
I was not a social democrat.
When they came for the trade unionists,
I did not speak out;
I was not a trade unionist.
When they came for the Jews,
I remained silent;
I wasn''t a Jew.
When they came for me,
there was no one left to speak out. - Reply to this comment
- The facts are:
* we know this administration has lied to us
* we know they have acted without morals
* we know they have made mistakes
* we know they cannot be trusted
And yet, they want us to trust them with these laws?
No thanks - the day these laws come to be passed is the day America stops being America.
Next they''ll be taking away our guns, and then the rest of our civil liberties will be gone as well. - Reply to this comment

It doesn''t matter if you''ve got something to hide or not - if they want you, they''ll get you.
The fact is, that even if you don''t have something to hide, if these laws are introduced, then it could be your children that suffer, or their grand children.
The fact that you don''t see it as a problem doesn''t mean it isn''t a problem.
First it''s those who look differently - then it''s those who think differently, and then it''s you. - Reply to this comment

Point made, but you are assuming those investigating will act honorably and above board and won''t plant bogus evidence or leak CIA Agents names for political purposes! :) - Reply to this comment
- I think this would be a GREAT policy to adopt.
It is especially attractive since I, myself, are NOT an Arab or Muslim.
Whats the old saying?
IF you have nothing to hide...you have nothing to fear!

Your right. You could be anyone of us under the microscope of the republican right at any time for any reason. The people become cowards when they hear their patriotism is under question. Too afraid they will be singled out for not agreeing with the republican right. Our founding fathers questioned the government they were under, their patriotism was placed in question by those that followed the king. Were would this country be if our founding fathers fell for the same bushit as the people of today fall for?
People do need to remember the damage the republican right has done and stand up to them. Other wise, hello Nazi-America. A country of scared people. Scared of their own government and their own friends and family. - Reply to this comment
- Well the FBI will have plenty to practice with--they have 800,000 names on their terror watch list, perhaps it''s time they did something with it, and I''ll bet anything most of those names are just regular Americans.
We need someone in Wahsington to determine just what intelligence is---no one seems to know. - Reply to this comment

It doesn''t matter whether you have anything to fear or not - today it starts with people who look different, tomorrow, it''s people who think differently to the Government, and pretty soon, you will have something to fear.
Whether you''ve done something wrong or not - you should be scared. - Reply to this comment
- This is one of those deals that sound good on paper but falls apart as soon as the FBI employee doing the investigating is a member of the targeted group, be it race, religion or otherwise. In extreme cases the affected FBI employee could become so offended their group is being targeted they themselves can potentially become a threat! In addition once this type of profiling becomes public knowledge "like now for example!" terrorist will start recruiting and using members of a race or culture they think will be able to avoid detection and slip under the radar! This reminds me of California''s plans to "map" Muslims a while back but wisely discarded.

Well said, indeed!
Americans have more to fear from the reactionary politicians, who would steal our freedoms and subvert the Constitution to perpetuate their political power and control of taxpayer money, than we do from terrorists. The Bush Administration should be charged en masse for their crimes, starting with Bush and Cheney. If the Republicans were the patriots they claim to be, they would have started impeachment procedings against this corrupt administration in Bush''s first term. Instead, they were so drunk with power that they condoned and abetted the criminal subversion of our country and the transfer of tax monies to corrupt companies that cloaked their theft in faux patriotism--read BlackWater and Haliburton. - Reply to this comment

Think: What people are not remembering is Timothy McVeigh, Terry Nichols, Waco, Ruby Ridge, just to name a few American terrorists or groups. It''''s not just Arabs the FBI will be looking into, it can anyone of us for any reason. The Gestapo did the very same thing to it''''s own people. People better think before they start listining to Bush and Friends again. Remember the damage Bush and Cheney have already done before falling for the Rights scare tactics.Remember the lies we already fell for from the Republican Right."

- Many people, myself included, believe the Republican Right are very close to Nazi like control in their beliefs anymore. Bush and Cheney have lied, used scare tactics and have trampled on many of our rights by spying on us and then lying about it until caught.
The Right is now using scare tactics again by claiming they want to look into peoples lives because ethnic groups are more likely terrorists and people once again will be come afraid and allow this to happen.

Because the DOHS is WAY TOO BUSY giving them visas to enter the countery on the fast track to citizenship.
I do hope the DOHS communicates with the DOJ PRIOR to issuing those visas. - Reply to this comment

The planes bombing Iraq on the basis of Bush''s lies are used as weapons almost daily, and I doubt if any of the pilots are Arab, or Muslim. - Reply to this comment

If there was a word beyond stupid, this comment should be in the first paragraph of definition example Terrorists are anyone willing to commit mass murder to illustrate their point, like for example Charles Manson, Son of Sam, Tim McVeigh, the kkk, the aryan nations group, the many other neo-Nazi groups flourishing in America, those who shoot abortion doctors, and not to forget Bush.
There are also those people who oppose the rulers over their lot, and having exhausted all other means of redress, resort to violence, nowadays they are also called "terrorists" by those against whom resistance is directed.
If you are afraid to speak, such cowardice is your problem alone, what you are really afraid of is facing the consequences of your speech. - Reply to this comment
