- When we allow the cops (or ANYONE, for that matter) to be judge, jury and executioner, the ''''rule of law'''' goes out the window.

You can sleep safe and secure, knowing that this case will have very little negative affect upon our rights as citizens to get do precess of law, especially the presumed innocent. Career criminals, well that''s another story, they may need to rethink their line of work, because the dividends from as result of their crimes will soon start to diminish. - Reply to this comment

- Let''s see, maybe I can accuse my neighbor that I don''t like of some heinous crime and hope this happens to him.
Not saying that this guy was necessarily falsely accused. For all I know, he did it. Should have been give a fair trial and, if convicted, sent to fry. But the attitude of people who want to disregard the principles of the Constitution that this country was founded upon bothers me greatly. Upstanding Americans all... - Reply to this comment
- You miss the point--it''''s not JUST ''''the guilty'''' that this could happen to.

- ForASongCA, sorry, but I''''ll take my chances. Not only is it a safe bet I won''''t be arrested, but it''''s also a safe bet I''''ll never murder a cop, smoke crack, rob a liquor store, rape a coed, collect welfare, or take a swing at an officer for stopping me.
I''''d much rather "pray" that this society stop coddling criminals and commence doling out regular instant punishments much more often. You see, I''''m one of those people who actually wants to deter criminals from committing crimes in the first place. If a perp can''''t stand the heat, perhaps he should stay home and watch TV instead.

- It''s OK to kill thieves on someone else''s property - it''s OK to murder an inmate awaiting due process of law. What''s happening to this country? I worry about anyone who doesn''t see the problem here.

- Everyone who "isn''''t troubled" by this person''''s death while in custody: Pray you are never arrested for something in a jurisdiction where the law enforcement personnel decide they are judge, jury, and executioner. Regardless of what you''''re accused of or what you''''ve done, this could happen to you.
If the perp was guilty, yes, he probably deserved execution. But the point of our judicial system is to *prove* they''''re guilty before stringing ''''em up. And if that system didn''''t work for *him*...there is no guarantee that it will work for you or me either.

Indeed, but it''s not perfect, nor foolproof; and if that was the case, then people would automtically slow down on amber, and stop on red, or on stop. Yet, look at how often that it does work, like its supposed to, without giving audience to all of the rock throwers and fire yellers, or racism cryers. - Reply to this comment
