- Where does this story say anything about a restraining order?
Of course there are plenty stories of someone breaking a restring order and committing acts of violence but when they do work it don''''t make the news so it''''s hard to say how effective they are without a real study.

I work directly with women in DV situations, and children in abusive situations. Restraining orders don''t work. Take my word for it I deal with it EVERY DAY And see it first hand. - Reply to this comment
- Just like locks only keep the honest people out, restraining orders only keep the non violent, sane people away. So it''s really just another piece of paper. The only thing it does is give the owner of the order a false sense of security.

- Farremoved you spelled it just right. Faith is most certainly a christian nutjob. God is most certainly looking down on Faith and shaking his head sadly.

- Restraining orders only work if the individual restrained is law abiding and agrees to be restrained. I doubt many individuals who need restraining orders against them are able to follow the law. I''d like to see some figures about violations/attacks by folks under these orders. We hear alot about murders during restraining orders.

- Another example of the irrelevancy of a restraining order. Another example of a weak minded and spineless man. We need to change the system and eliminate the restraining orders, because too often they do nothing to protect the woman who was forced to have them issued. The mentality that allows men to be given the benefit of the doubt that they will honor and obey the orders is anti-woman. A violent man won''t change his stripes unless he''s physically forced to do so; paper just doesn''t cut it. Violent men are loose canons and it''s time the system recognized that and did something about it. What this amounts to is the male mentality on law enforcement and the judicial system protecting their own gender and with prejudice towards the woman and her life, which evidently doesn''t matter at all. Violent men are evil, dishonest and can''t be trusted.

- It would be surprising to me if this guy didn''t have a lengthy criminal record. We have hundreds of thousands of violent criminals walking our streets with the permission of our courts. This may be just one of them.
