I didn''t mean I thought you meant I was naive...I was stating that maybe I am...but I''m okay with that.
And I understand the "preperation" aspect of your post as well...that said...I have an alarm system in my home, with an ADT sign posted in front. My neighborhood is safe, but I still choose to pay my monthly bill to them.
Should a gun blazing criminal choose to break into my house, he better be prepared to shoot. I don''t own a gun, but that isn''t going to stop me. - Reply to this comment
- If I am naive in feeling safe, so be it. It is what it is. At least I didn''''t spend years in hiding

I never thought you were naive, if you have lived in places you say you have and are safe then you obviously do something to stay safe.
I have spent no time in hiding either. And I agree with your sentiment there.
I have never had a blow out on the freeway but I still plan to keep my tires safe and in good condition. I would rather plan for a problem that never happens than fail to plan and wish I had. - Reply to this comment
- It''''s completely a sign of the times we are living in...many people are giving up any hope of having a decent life economically, socially, or culturally...the American "Dream" is dead for so many people

The American Dream isn''t dead -- there are a lot of people coming to this country and living it.
What''s dead is the willingness of American''s to work hard and delay gratification long enough to see their dreams become reality. - Reply to this comment
- So if two people break into one''''s home or business and they want to protect thier home and family they should shoot once, then ask the bad guys to wait while they reload?

I''m sure one can find a reasonable argument for every single scenario brought forward here. Remember, I''m not one in favor of banning guns. Just on a search for a way to help alleviate our gun issues. - Reply to this comment
- My comment on semi and automatic weapons was simply...what is the point of owning one uness you plan on doing harm to another?

Have you read the second amendment and what it is for? - Reply to this comment
- I hope one never does, but there are people who live in areas where it might be a reality. for those people not to think of the worst case scenario is foolish. If you feel you are outside the realm of that ever happening to you, I am happy for you, if it is true.

I live about 15 minutes outside a major city, but do feel very safe in my neighborhood. Is there crime? Of course. Have I lived in areas where I heard gun shots before? Sure have. Spent about 5 years in one of those. Still, never spent time worrying about being shot. Naive, maybe. I just choose to not live my life in fear. Seems a waste of time to me. I live life by this code. It is what it is.

- The question is WHY have so many American''''s lost all hope and feel the need to go on shooting rampages to ill others, and then themselves?
THAT is the Question we must answer, and find the the Solution.
