The neo cons found the libertarian rhetoric useful in masking their underhanded efforts to move the United States into the direction of privatized oligarchic rule.

...........

With the words from Regan, "...government is the problem..." being repeated frequently on all right-wing radio, time and time again. The neo-con sheeple march to that tune, not realizing what the neo-con elites have planned for their idealistic "less government" country.

They murdered law, so they could practice their courtroom politics. One of the most important underpinnings of our country is the rule of law. Bush and his cons have done their best to undermine it. They did some enormous damage, but it is still intact and when Bush is out of office, all of these fools should be indicted.

The reality not the fantasy is that government will always exist. Government should function as the wise mind in which the emotions and the rationale amongst a social system are able to dialogue in a way in which compromise and cooperation are actualized as the strengths they are. Such a government is public. The neo con republicans have been aiming for big privatized government which represents the interests of a wealthy power few served by a broader spectrum of "little people". Libertarians and their rhetoric have played into the hands of right wing republican neo cons. It stands to reason that these so called "libertarians" also have close ties to the right wing neo con republican party.

IN CONCLUSION Sgtrds, if you read below, you''''ll see how I strongly disagree with your determination that our country moves closer to fascism everyday. We ARE fascism, in every sense of the definition, and have been for some time!

..........

I have to agree with SGTrds as well scorp. The ability to change our government, for now, is still within reach.

However, the few informed Americans are pushing against a huge tide of uninformed and apathetic Americans who feel that it is impossible for our country to be anything less than a happy-go-lucky republic. Our Constitution is not "government-proof". It can be as strong as a granite pillar, yet dismantled as easily as a Lego set, (as demonstrated by the President and Congress), if Americans allow it to be.

"We may congratulate ourselves that this cruel war is nearing its end.
It has cost a vast amount of treasure and blood. . . .
It has indeed been a trying hour for the Republic; but
I see in the near future a crisis approaching that unnerves me and causes
me to tremble for the safety of my country. As a result of the war,
corporations have been enthroned and an era of corruption in high places
will follow, and the money power of the country will endeavor to prolong
its reign by working upon the prejudices of the people until all wealth
is aggregated in a few hands and the Republic is destroyed.
I feel at this moment more anxiety for the safety
of my country than ever before, even in the midst of war.
God grant that my suspicions may prove groundless."
The passage appears in a letter from Lincoln to (Col.) William F. Elkins, Nov. 21, 1864.
-----------------------------------
1. I remember this every time I hear a contemporary republican boast about the "party of Lincoln".
2, Corporate control of the political process is a central core value of Fascism.

I sure hope we make a big change this fall.
