If Gore or Kerry were President, by now we would be paying reparations to the Taliban, apologizing to China for failing to shut down the last of our manufacturing sector and shipping it to China, and we''d be spending billions of dollars on machines to remove carbon dioxide from the atmosphere.

I don''t want to get into the whole "who''s to blame for 9/11" thing again. I will post that next, it''s too long to fit here.

As for the aftermath of 9/11, Bush acted magnificently. He won an astonishing victory in Afghanistan, in spite of predictions to the contrary. Unfortunately, he tarnished his greatest accomplishment with his foolish oath to catch bin Laden.

He does seem to have fouled up almost everything else. But he had plenty of help from Congress, including HILLARY CLINTON AND JOHN KERRY who voted for war in Iraq.

Now that''s REALLY scary. You don''t design bridges, do you?

BTW, I graduated with an engineering degree, too. Electrical engineering. In my school, you had to be able to FIND OUT things like the percent formula if you weren''t sure.

You are not only ignorant, but also unteachable. Plus you don''t know how to do your own research.

How did you ever get ANY degree? Wait, maybe I don''t want to know...

According to Wikipedia

277 out of 435 Representatives and 48 out of 100 Senators were born in 1946-1964.

That''s 64% and 48%, respectively.

OVER 60% OF THE MEMBERS OF CONGRESS ARE BABY BOOMERS!!

Bill Clinton is a Boomer. Dubya is a Boomer. Hillary is a Boomer. Joseph Hazelwood is a Boomer. 60% of Congress are Boomers.

I THINK THAT EXPLAINS EVERYTHING...

100 times DOLLARS PROFIT divided by GROSS SALES = 8

If we cut GROSS SALES in half to account for inflated prices due to market speculation, the ACTUAL PERCENTAGE doubles to 16%.

THAT''S WHAT THE OIL COMPANIES ARE REALLY MAKING. And they use the injury of INFLATED GROSS SALES to justify the slap in the face of making RECORD DOLLAR PROFITS by using the injury to cut down the percentage of the slap in the face.

==================

I''m sorry, I''m just a pea brained engineer by trade, this new math is cornfusing me.

But, let''s accept your position....If you decide to cut the "gross sales" in half....How does this not mean you just cut supply in half??

Would you not admit that cutting gross sales in half means you''re forcing the company to sell less production??

It''s been a gas guys, but I gotta run....I''m starting to look like some long hair hippie and I want to take Momma out to dinner this evening.

============================

This must be some of that new math I remember the kids talking about as they were coming up.

Most of my fractions did not included a "multiplier"....They were only comprised of a numerator on top of the line, and a denominator on bottom. And, if you wanted to represent percentages, you better make sure that bottom number was 100.

Beastof70 wondered
Let''''s make the 100 the numerator. Now let''''s make the denominator something easy like, 5. Now, is this a mathmatical equation that represents 5%?
---------------
smack my forehead My gosh, man, you have the whole Internet at your disposal. Can you not find the percent formula???

percent = 100 times numerator divided by denominator

In your example, suppose the numerator is 2 and the denominator is 40. That''s one-twentieth, which is 5%.

The percent formula would give

100 times 2 divided by 40 = 5, which means five percent (5%).

Plug in your numbers and you get the same result, but you''re confused because the denominator YOU chose is 100.

In the percent profit equation, the GROSS SALES are the denominator:

100 times DOLLARS PROFIT divided by GROSS SALES = 8

If we cut GROSS SALES in half to account for inflated prices due to market speculation, the ACTUAL PERCENTAGE doubles to 16%.

THAT''S WHAT THE OIL COMPANIES ARE REALLY MAKING. And they use the injury of INFLATED GROSS SALES to justify the slap in the face of making RECORD DOLLAR PROFITS by using the injury to cut down the percentage of the slap in the face.

Personally, I''m getting tired of being slapped in the face every time I get injured by paying $4/gallon at the pump when the oil companines cry poormouth while they make RECORD PROFITS.

Sounds like u are a true conservative, and not a neo-con in sheeps clothing.
I respect that, true conservatives believe in small gov. and cutting taxes in relation to the amount that govt was cut. I think a true conservative would also want to balance the budget.
This current batch of neo-cons grows govt. and cuts taxes. You cant balance a check book like that hence we are borrowing money like crazy from China and Saudi Arabia.

I don''t know why I would even bother with a self admit booger muncher like you, but one factor you so conveniently left out in your above.....Even with G.W.''s tax cuts, the federal governments revenues went through the ceiling.

Congress (both sides of the aisle) simply black mailed G.W. into funding his war only so long as they were allowed to spend like there was no bottom in the bucket.

I get mad at G.W. only because he allowed this Congressional trash to play this game.

HOW to get out -

my pick is McCain, for better or for worse. I know, that''s how we got Dubya, but we only get two choices.

Obama seems decent enough for a politician, and I wouldn''t mind if he wins. He just needs to become more seasoned before he''s ready to try his hand at the helm of this nation.

And the waters we''re in call for an experienced captain, not one out on his first cruise.

Is McCain that man???
--------------------------
Compared to the alternative, at least he FAR FAR away from being a Boomer.

Plus, he was actually IN A WAR, while the Democrats have not fielded a candiate with actual combat service since 1970. And he was a POW, which means he assocates war with being tortured for two years.

As far as who has more personal motivation to get out of war, and with the first-hand experience to know what really goes on in war so he knows

Archie Bunker was not as staunch as you. :-)

Yes, Obama is technically a Boomer according to the statisticians. But he''s VERY VERY late in the Boom. Howdy Doody aired its last episode in 1960, before he was born.

So it''s hard to put him in the same league as hard-core Boomers like the Clintons and Dubya. And Joseph Hazelwood, captain of the Exxon Valdez. All born in 1946 or 1947. You don''t get more Boomer than that.

You''''re an ignorant boor. You''''re the one who''''s on a trip - or maybe YOU ARE a bad trip.

You can ask a local math teacher what a denominator is, and ask if 100 is the denominator in the percent formula... but you''''re too arrogant and lazy, you''''ll just wallow in ignorance and imagine that it''''s EVERYONE ELSE who''''s wrong.

I know you.

BTW, I''m a conservative, but I''m not a robot. I voted for Bush both times (watch Beastie call me a liar, as liars always do), not because he was good, but because Gore and Kerry were WORSE.

I blame Clinton for causing the mess we''re in today, and I blame Bush for failing to do anything to get us out of it. Clinton is a S.O.B., Bush has been a major disappontment. They have one thing in common - THEY''''RE BOTH BABY BOOMERS. Born in the same year, even.

SIXTEEN YEARS OF BABY BOOMERS IS ENOUGH. Cut the partisan nonsense. Political party doesn''t matter any more. IT''S THE BOOMERS.

NO MORE BABY BOOMERS in public office.

Grouch, I would not call you a liar....I can tell you voted for G.W. twice. And, I think you came by your screen name honestly.

However, I''m not, given the definition of conservative, convinced you are nearly as staunch a conservative as I am.

Being a baby boomer is not the denominator you seek.

Bill Clinton was a constant dissapointment to me. And, when I saw him in such a hurry after leaving office to build that big money laundering operation on the shores of the Arkansas River near Little Rock, so he could convert all the graff he had the Chinese, N. Koreans etc. deposit into his numbered bank accounts in the Caymens I knew I wasn''t wrong.

BTW: The Boomer age ran up to 1963....OsamaObama is technically a "boomer".

OK, you ARE a math moron.

[More name calling??]

Social Security is "heavy" because NOBODY HAS BEEN ABLE TO MODIFY IT. It''s such a fat, juicy DEMOCRAT ENTITLEMENT PROGRAM that nobody can touch it.
Posted by txgrouch2004 at 01:10 PM : Jun 19, 2008

Can''t touch it?? What the heck are you smoking??
Please let me count the way the Democrats have touched it over the years:

It was touched once when the Democrats made it a manditory payroll tax.

It was touched again when the Democrats decided to dump the contributions into the general fund.

It was touched again when the Democrats decided to extend it''s benefits to new arrivals to America who have not contributed well over $200,000 to the program as I have.

It has been touched by the Democrats I can''t count the times as they raised the original voluntary contribution of 1% into the current government confiscation of 13.4%.

Sorry boys, but I''m simply not going to play your game of gratuitous name calling. Just the facts Ma''ame.

The right wingers have always said we don''t need to worry about pollution, or overpopulation, or food shortages, or anything else because new TECHNOLOGY would save us. If we ever needed new technology, it is NOW to develop new fuels and sources of energy. But what is the right wing answer ? More exploitation of the same ancient resources, more "relaxation" of standards and environmental safeguards, more slash and burn, and this time making the Democrats the villains - for obstructing the consumer economy. Excuse us for wanting clean beaches, fresh air, and drinkable water Quaint ideas, I know. As long as we''re drilling for oil and burning coal, we''ll never progress to clean technologies. The Japanese will get there first.

you summed it up with this statement. This is the complacency and laziness to really understand beyond your narrow notions of I work, I earn a paycheck and I hate anyone on disability or welfare. Well, the system can always use more oversight but big concentrations of wealth are the real threat to your posterity, not a few people in your perception undeserving of government paychecks.

Did you know that the "conservative" politicians you support receive socialized medicine, retirement and security details for life at your expense and yet throw propagandist rhetoric at the intellectually lazy to keep them at bay and protect their special fascist self serving way of life?

Oligarchy-- is a form of government where political power effectively rests with a small elite segment of society (whether distinguished by wealth, family, military powers or spiritual hegemony). The word oligarchy is translated into "rule by few."

If you don''t care what the word means then I don''t know how you would consider yourself american.
