- Only a few short years ago - many folks would be screaming that civil unions are wrong. Now these same folks are saying "Civil Unions" ok, just don''t call it marriage. A few years from now no one will remember what all the fuss was about.
The defnition of marriage has changed extensively over the years. In the early part of the Old Testament marriage was one man - many women.
In other periods it was a contact to arrange a "marriage" between a man and a woman whereby the woman became the property of the man.
In much of recorded history, marriage was strictly "till death do us part" with no option for divorce or desolution of the marriage.
Marriage has evolved and changed - do you want a return to these forms of traditional marriage?
And actually if you go look up the definition of marriage in the on-line Merriam Webster Dictionary it includes " the state of being united to a person of the same *** in a relationship like that of a traditional marriage " - Reply to this comment
