Well, technically it is child pornography. This is the law and govt everyone wanted. I say they have to face the same court and sentencing that anyone would face for distributing child porn because that is what it is.

So what happens when teens see a naked body or others see there''s? I keep hearing about how terrible it is for that to happen, but why?
I really think it bothers the parents and bible thumpers more than it does the teens.
My Grandparents were married when they where 15 and 17, Are teenagers less aware of the world now than they where back then? or do we just have to many cops now.

Wow, all this fuss over a cell phone... I remember when there was no such thing.

Children are always pushing their limitations, I could have predicted this one.

mediamom: Are you protecting your daughter with a content filter? It is entirely too easy for her to mistakenly google a term for her research and to unwittingly be exposed to some of the raunchiest content you could imagine. Netnanny worked well for me, but there are some free ones out there that work nicely.

One solution could be to go after the irresponsible parents of these sub-18s who gave these kids a cell phone... Fine them $250 per offense and you''ll see this type of idiotic behavior go away. Of course, it would only work for about three months, or until the ACLU could make their injunction stick.

My kid doesn''t own a cell phone. She has a computer in her room but does not have access to the web. She uses it for homework only. I don''t think a lot of parents are behaving smartly these days. They give their kids everything under the sun and mine comes home asking for stuff that kids her age don''t need. Parents need to be parents and not let their kids lead them. We are not here to be our kids'' friends. We are here to guide them, parent them and make sure they know right from wrong and act accordingly and if not, they need to suffer the consequences. Those kids are going to be ashamed when they are older when the kids they have are surfing the web and they come across those pics. OMG - I could not imagine coming across a nude pic of my parents! Ew... bad image.

I always have to laugh when there are stories like this. I am not laughing about what these children are doing but am laughing about the reaction. These children are being given access to technologies that require a certain amount of responsibility, maturity, and common sense. They are given cars, their own computers with access to the world, and multi-functional cell phones now. And then turned loose in the world. And for the most part unchecked by parents and other adults. Then when after something becomes so widespread that it gains the attention of adults the outrage finally sets in. The article shrugs some aspects of this off as kids "making mistakes". I think not. These children know what they are doing. Parents need to wake up and smell the coffee, children are not adults and prove this on a daily basis, just pick up a newspaper. Parents aren''t teaching their children well.

I am 20 yrs old. I am somewhat still know everything about being a teen these days. Today teens do it becuase its a fun thing for them to do. Yes its a sick world but thats something out of your control. Parents should not pay for picture services on their child''s phone, problem solved. I don''t get parents these days. But mostly its not the parents, its our culture. Taking a seminude pic online isn''t a big deal to alot of teens.

A 16 yr old charged with a felony but 16 yr olds can''t vote, can''t drink, can''t smoke cigarettes but they have to be trailed as adults? Why don''t they just teach him a lesson because he is a teen? That doesn''t make sense. Thats something that will go on his record for the rest of his life. Man Its not even worth going to jail or getting charged. Its part of the culture.

Where in the hell are you parents, sitting around in a drunkin or drug induced stupor? Wake up you idiots. Ever think of imposing sanctions by taking away the phone when it is misused by your pride and joy. Oh! Heaven forbid.

This relentless prosecution and jailing that now has the US the worlds leading jailer, more than red China even, has to stop. Prosecutors want to make a name for themselves; lawmakers fall over-backward pandering to the religious right; even the prison guard union lobbies for more prisoners. It''s madness. The American Gulag.

my son in law is facing trial next week for texting a girl whom he thought was 17. turned out she was 13. How can we convince our courts that its not just the boys that should be punished? He is looking at 13 years in prison for this act. The sad thing is, she sent over 3/4 of the text messages to him. Yes, both parties exchanged inappropriate pictures of each other other, yet HE is facing prison time, not her. Where is the justice in this? She can play but he has to pay

Kids will be kids unless the parents keep tighter reigns on what they are doing. No matter the age they still need watched. Kids do not need privacy until they move out of the house. If they are living in your house then keep an eye on them. Remind them that you are getting charged for everything that they do on your phones.

It is the nature of teenagers to embrace the forbidden. It has been this way since there have been teenagers. Now that they have the technology to do this easily, they will. All you can do as a parent is to teach them about the consequences or take their phone. If you give them the ability to do this, you should not be surprised if they do. I personally have always felt that the attitude of our society toward nudity has been way too repressive but that is the right of every individual to feel otherwise. Your teenagers will do things just to shock you so be prepared.

He didn''''t think this was illegal??? He should spend life in prison in order to stay out of the gene pool! Ignorance of the law is no excuse, butthead.

Jail for the rest of his life?? He''s not even an adult by legal standards.

What he did was wrong but *** he was 17 and she was 16.It''s not like he was her high school teacher of something

Religion has nothing to do with nudity. It''s how we treat our bodies. Our bodies are temples and we should treat them with respect. Yes, I know that sounds crazy because they are our bodies, but you have to think of who gave us OUR bodies.

Yeah, yeah! We are so old and wise now! (I''m 56). Who, among us, can promise that, had we camera-phone and digital camera technology when we were teens that we''d have been so perfect and upright? Not I! We were looser in some ways back then and, in some ways, they are "looser" today. It''s just a different world and we easily lose sight of that.

They do it because their world is small. They don''t realize how big it really is. They think that if they send a pic over the phone it will stay within their little world, their circle of friends. Kids are going to experiment with their bodies, technology is just giving them new ways to do that.

Here''s another old-fashioned idea: WHY GIVE YOUR KIDS CELL PHONES IN THE FIRST PLACE???

We grew up without cell phones. Why do we believe young people today CAN''T LIVE WITHOUT A CELL PHONE??? Every school has a phone that students can use.

We all know the little angels are NOT keeping their phones put away except to call Mom to pick them up after band practice. THEY''RE SPENDING ALL DAY chatting with their friends, cheating on exams, and taking pictures over the stall in the school restroom and posting the picture on the Internet.

YES, THIS IS ALL HAPPENING. Why are parents giving cell phones to children in the first place???
