- When smokers are gone from New York City...then what are they going to blame the smog on??
After smokers are gotten rid of...the obese will be next. Be prepared to be taxed on the ammount of calories in the food you choose to purchase. Macaroni and cheese---- $12.00 a box. - Reply to this comment
- If they were really interested in helping people kick a habit like cigarettes, and not just lining their fat wallets with cash, why do they not contribute even a penny of this tax money into subsidizing various smoking cessation tools like nicotine gum and patches, programs, pills, new cessation research, etc.
Not a cent of the money they profited from all those multi-million dollar tobacco lawsuits or the outlandish cigarette taxes ever went into "actually" helping the public quite their habits. Many smokers started clear back when the health hazards to themselves were not even known, let alone those sitting beside them.
Are heroin addicts really that much more deserving than smokers? Methadone treatment is fully subsidized by state governments. This is obviously due to the fact that heroin addicts have been more inclined than smokers in the past to commit crimes in order to fund their habits, thus appearing more dangerous to the public, but that might not even be the case for much longer. - Reply to this comment
- Looks like the government found another way to control our lives. What ever happened to "over 21 and make your own choices.?" Guess the government is not happy unless they control what you do with your body, money, property and who you choose to love and marry. You can''t be trusted to make your own choices and be happy with them. I feel like a kid still living with my parents-except I have to pay to have my choices made for me now! Would you like to choose my lover for me, too? How about my job, bank, mode of transportation? If it''s not too much to ask, if you choose all that, you can *** well pay for it, too.
