[And gas prices would not be $4 a gallon if we could drill our own oil (which we have plenty) but the democratic congress will not let us do so, nor build more refineries for that matter.]
[Posted by zabarc at 12:02 AM : May 18, 2008]

where are you getting this stuff from?

the republicans have had control of congress since 1994 (the called it the ''contract with america''). (less the 6 months of jim jeffords as an independent in 2000).

the republicans have had ''complete'' control from 2001 thru 2007.

why do you suppose they haven''t pushed thru all the drilling and refining policies?

bobnjersey,,
Please re-read my posts. Did I ever paint a rose picture? I made comments like, %u201CYes, an investment bank did have problems but that does mean our economy is in a recession?%u201D And %u201CAll that can be said is that that the economy is growing at a slow pace, which is not a recessions.%u201D
You did not answer my question:
Has our GDP gone negative or not?
Oh, and Bob, please list a factual source.

You didn''t say you wern''t part of bush''s regime. I also think that a person who has worked hard all their lives and loses their jobs then their homes is not responsible for their misfortune. Bush wanted this war as revenge against Sadaam and because Sadaam refused to play his game any longer. Then once he got us involved in the war he found out he could become filthy rich by spending the blood of our troops. He doesn''t care gas is $4 a gallon, he is filthy rich and owns oil companies, plus all the illegal kickbacks he is getting fom everywhere. Owning oil companies should have precluded him from ever becoming president as he has self serving interests

So because it involved a kennedy we are supposed to forgive and forget. Whar about that young girl and what life had to offer her, does it not matter her future was taken by her, does it not matter kennedy never showed any remorse and bought his way out of trouble because he was rich ?

[BTW, that happened last month. The reports I read were from this week. Keep current.]
[Posted by zabarc at 12:13 AM : May 18, 2008]

you''re kidding, right? did you miss that point about the bear stearns ceo saying everything''s just fine ... until 24 hours later? how current do you need to be?

do you have all your assets in the market w/ your ''sunshine'' view?

there''s a gathering financial storm. your looking past the signs of it. job loss, available credit issues, mortgage defaults, rising energy costs, inflation ... the list goes on.

i''ve never read a negative financial commentary ... other than a prospectus. everything''s always just fine ... until it isn''t.

bobnjersey,
Ok, here is the question: has our GDP gone negative or not? If it is growing at more than 0.00001% then it is not in a recession. You are trying to say that one problem = another problem. That is not always a good assumption. Yes, an investment bank did have problems but that does mean our economy is in a recession? BTW, that happened last month. The reports I read were from this week. Keep current.

[What is so bias, stunning about what I said? Are we in a recession? The government has not said anything but that are worried. The average investment bank has decreased the chance of the UAS of going into a recession from 80-90% to 45 %. ]
[Posted by zabarc at 11:35 PM : May 17, 2008]

how have investment banks done this? are ''they'' supplying these numbers?

a month ago one of the top investment banks came within a day or so of complete default ... requiring an uprecedented move from the federal reserve.

a day or so before bear stearns stock dropped like a rock and faced the precipus of complete failure ... their ceo was saying everything was just fine.

if they had been forced to dump their holdings ... a financial meltdown may very well have followed. it took a $30 billion line of credit to avert this possibility.

you''re clearly seeing the glass as half full.

ranger1948,
I am not rich, but most of those people losing their homes are called %u201Cspeculators%u201D or persons who made %u201Cbad decisions%u201D which is also called %u201Cfree will%u201D. And gas prices would not be $4 a gallon if we could drill our own oil (which we have plenty) but the democratic congress will not let us do so, nor build more refineries for that matter.

There is no forgiveness until you admit what you have done. Kennedy is a fat drunken spoiled rotten pig who left a young woman to die. I heard no apology for what he did to her. Until then no forgetting. The bad things that come to the Kennedy''s they bring on themselves.

I just think back to how that Mary Jo must have felt alone in that dark care at the bottom of the lake drowning. There was an air pocket so she probably lasted a little while all alone wondering when Ted would bring help for her. Well he went home slept off his drunk, called his lawyer in the morning. A lot he cared for her. There has always been suspicion Mary Jo may have been pregnant. I wish Teddy no good will at all, not after what he did to Mary Jo.

Any more irrelevant details from 40 years ago you want to share with us? What happened to forgive and forget? Usually the neocons are holier than thou Christ-y types, so why not let it go?

With thousands of people losing their homes and jobs daily, gas pushing $4 a gallon, i would guess you are rich or part of bushs regime.

SHURCH4TRUTH,
What is so bias, stunning about what I said? Are we in a recession? The government has not said anything but that are worried. The average investment bank has decreased the chance of the UAS of going into a recession from 80-90% to 45 %. Fannie Mae said the same thing. I just read a lot. Give me some of your research points and I will look at them. Or do you not have any and are just reading the opinion section the NYT.

ranger1948,
I admit, I did not read all your posts, but I take issue with the %u201Cillegal war%u201D talking point because that is all it is. The Dems have gone through millions of our tax dollars to convict him of that and there has been NO conviction yet. Don%u2019t forget all but two (senate) Dems voted for the war. As far debt, please. On a GDP to debt ratio, we still beat Canada and Germany%u2026two of the libs most favorite countries. In fact, the USA is number 35 on the list.
As far as a recession, that has NOT yet been determined other than by liberal university professors. All that can be said is that that the economy is growing at a slow pace, which is not a recessions. Are we out of the woods? No. But get your facts straight, again.

Respectfully,
zabarc
