Mrs. O''Conner, I am so sorry for what you and your family have been going through. My Mom has Alzheimer''s, and nobody truly understands the toll it takes on the caregivers and AD Victims until they go through it themselves, which I don''t wish on anybody. I am writing here hoping you see this comment, so that you can learn about a new treatment that has helped my Mom. It is under a lot of scrutiny, but as of now about 100 people are being treated. The treatment is Enbrel, which is an FDA approved drug for RA. Dr. Tobinick discovered it''s benefits for AD when injected in a unique way. The drug Company Amgen does not back the treatment, and says there''s not enough data. There''s not enough data because they won''t do a Clinical Trial, we can''t get FDA approval without the recommendation from Amgen. Amgen seems to be holding this back for some reason. So, we are paying for this treatment with our parents life savings. Please see the youtube videos of my Mom and others , more info on the treatment is there: http://youtube.com/famc17 http://youtube.com/tumates http://youtube.com/user/armoandleo11 With the support of someone as influential as yourself, we may be able to get the Clinical Trial, and FDA Fast Track approval that we so desperately need for our Loved Ones. It''s not a cure, it''s a treatment that reverses some symptoms, then truly stops the progression of the disease. Several patients have been on the treatment for over 3 years and are still maintaining.

Alzheimer''s disease can only be proven after the person has died and had an autopsy. For now, most doctors are calling what people have "Alzheimer''s type dementia". I know because my mother suffers from it. It is a horrible, horrible, disease. I have seen Mom go from being a very active, social person to someone confined to a wheelchair, and she needs help with everyday activities such as eating. My sister and I go to the nursing home every day to help at mealtime, since Mom has to have someone feed her. She tries to talk once in a while, but it makes no sense most of the time. Sometimes I can ask her a question and get an appropriate yes or no answer, but that is not often. It is very hard to see anyone go through this. I only hope that I don''t get this terrible disease, but since my mother, aunt, and grandmother have all had it, there is a very real possibility that my sister and I may get it also. It is very scary to think that I may end up like Mom. I hope they get more research done on this disease very soon and find some way to cure it, or at least stop it at the early stages.

And we all hope you seek treatment. In the past year researchers have found methods to use adult stem cells just as effectively as those from a fetus. AND no babies died. Why do you think the debate died.

Alzheimer''s disease is a medical disease. A disease that may or may not afflict a lot of people, but that is a thing best boasted about to doctors and research scientists, and not con-artists.

There needs to be some accountability from these insurance providers who "write thier own tickets" and bleed premiums from people who are still not adequately covered, due to a lot of fine-printed, technical jargon in the policies. It''s just not right, moral or productive to either good business or the overall societal benefit.

Well, these idiot Republicans won''t allow stem cell research, so what do you expect ? Praying to God doesn''t seem to work, I guess. It''s the same old crowd who don''t support *** education, birth control or abortion, so we can''t brew corn into fuel because too many humans go hungry. Stupidity is one disease that CAN be cured.
