Jehovahwtness, I appreciate your comments but only wanted to add a perspective of what most of all of us honest police officers feel. We take hits when someone does something off the wall, but I also hold back total judgement in hopes that all evidence is presented. I try to read different views but unfortunately, some of the posts have become way to biased with too much hatred and ignorance towards each other than trying to honestly communicate through the issues. Things don''t go smooth in society but putting up prejudicial racist walls will not help work through the issues to make communities safer. I''m for a peaceful solution but I for sure know their are violent habitual predators stalking the nation and the prisons are not keeping them behind bars and it is jeopardizing the safety of the good folks just trying to get along. Thanks for the intelligent talk for a change. Move to OKC. We''re not big and not small, not perfect but far from the maddening big city idiocy that seems to pervade in our major areas. You have to duck a couple of tornados though. Have a great weekend everyone and enjoy your mothers. They deserve a lot of credit.

First, we don''t know if those guys did the crime. Second, in America, cops "arrest" the bad guys and the legal sytem takes care of the rest. Anyone who watched the tape knows that "some" of those cops were way out of control and should be fired.

I commend okcnfrcr on his excellent and comprehensive post, which certainly convinces me that there is good justification for harsher sentencing of criminals who perpetrate violence against police officers in the course of their normal duty. It is a pity that there are not more posters of his calibre on these boards.

Al Sharpton called a videotaped police beating of three shooting suspects in Philadelphia "worse than Rodney King," prompting the city''s police commissioner to chide anyone "fanning flames ... from afar."

Now Al what''s the story here. You Found your buddy Bill a place to extablish residence in Harlem by manipulating the blue collar black families out of their homes & properties So Bill could move in. Condeming the property, & the families. My but you did good for the Old Guard Clintons.

Where were you when Clinton & Rendell were going about the State of Pa. bitterly bashing & condeming Obama, Reverend Wright, & The African American communities.

I understand you''re a strong Clinton supporter. But Murder is not supposed to be a way of Life in Phila. It''s time to clean up this mess in Phila that has been a safe haven for drug suppliers, addicts, murderers, pediphiles, criminals & ex cons.

This Country, The African American People, & All Americans stand on a Great Historic Moment. We all agree that much needs to be done. Together we can do it.

You, Reverend Jackson, Andrew Young, like the Clintons, love to fan the flames of personal destruction. Al, this Country went through that in the 60''s. Like the Clintons from that era you are just out of touch. Be honest now, is this a part of a Clinton scheme to get Hillary elected.

Come on now lets get with the program.

By the way, my deadly force incident involved a wm (long length record across several states who had comitted 3 days of crimes in our city and to make it even harder on me, he was the son of both parents who were law enforcement officers in another state. Most of us don''t see color as the #1 priority for enforcement. It is a statistic that comes up when we have to enforce the laws. The totality of the circumstances of our observations and witness testimony dictate how we proceed. We had one of our officers shot yesterday by an African-American male, who then barricades himself in the house, fired more shots and still our SWAT team waited 10 hours and negotiated the suspect out of the house. Good thing? Probably not as this suspect is a mental patient who has a violent history of domestic abuse and other crimes and will one day be able to do this again. I have to say in this case, our dept did what it had to do, but don''t really think society''s best interest was served as others will be victims when he gets out and he will get out.

Sorry, cont) Most of us made this a profession and have conducted ourselves with respect of others but we still have to put up with racist comments from attorneys and the public. I have counseled with the elderly who are alone in their homes, try to comfort families losing a child and even have had to use deadly force to defend myself. I have also had other opportunities to use deadly force in immediate dangerous situations but was able to respond quickly to disarm the suspects without taking their lives. I have been knocked out in an Iranian college riot and seen their terrorist hatred propaganda spread in word and in voice. So when an officer is killed (remember he is armed), the suspect is not afraid to do it again and even more so to innocent unarmed victims. If you saw and stood the line like I and many of my brothers and sisters have, it would give you a perspective most don''t get. It has caused me to mature through the years, but don''t try to BS me with uneducated, ignorant or racist attitudes as I am prepared for whatever. I am Christian, compassionate, hard working, tolerant but definitely capable of handling your problems in society. That is why we take it hard when a brother dies. Pull up statistics on the states and how many law enforcement officers have died through the last few years.
