Comments on: Tape Captures Philly Cops Beating Suspects
Up To 15 Officers Could Be Taken Off Street Following Incident, Mayor's Office Says
- "We are not going to prejudge the situation based on the video," he said. "We all saw the video, but none of us was there."
Yes we were, we saw it on video, the suspects were immobilized and on the ground, and therefore were no threat, the continued kicking and beating has no possible justification, even if the suspects were involved in crimes.
Again the police have gone beyond a peacekeeping force, and resorted to thuggery. Each cop seen in the video kicking a suspect while the suspect was clearly immobilized, should spend time in the same prison as the suspects, should they be found guilty of the charges filed against them. - Reply to this comment
- I have yet to see police officers behave like these towards rich folks or in a rich neighborhood......

Sure - cops feel safe with normal people - when cops face animals in a human body they are afraid -they better be!
It sounds like you live a very sheltered life. There are police rider programs that will allow you a slight exposure to the extremely unpredictable and incredibly dangerous side of animals who were never socialized into being people. - Reply to this comment

,,Oh my. You are SOOO out of touch. Popular society wants men to be seen but not heard.
A typical best seller:
"Raising Boys Without Men: How Maverick Moms are Creating the Next Generation of Exceptional Men (Rodale, $23.95). Author and psychologist Peggy Drexler states that boys who don''t have a man in the house not only turn out just fine, but many fare better than boys raised in traditional homes with a father and mother.

It''s true, it''s not a matter of race but it is a matter of class.
The police across the US have always shown restraint when they patrol rich neighborhood, but that''s not the case in poor neighborhoods.
It''s always the poor that are looked upon as dispensable. Even during the nastiest wars rich neighborhoods for some reason are spared much of the destruction which only happens in poor and destitute areas.
We as a society need to mature beyond this point and stop devaluing people because of the little money they have. - Reply to this comment
- Duh. It is a white cope, a hispanic and a black cop. So get off the racist track and stop the Obama comments. You''re just making fools of yourselves.
Even more violence is not the answer to violent acts. Period. - Reply to this comment

- What is also really disquieting was the comment by one of the suspects mother (CNN). After seeing the videotape, the mother of one of the men arrested said, "I just burst out and cried. I was appalled by it." She was appalled by the violence of the officers, but not about the violence of her son. This attitude is also a big part of the problem. NO accountability.
That being said, I love the idiotic comments about using violence to combat violence and condoning police breaking the law. Wonder how loud and long you would scream if you were one of the people the police decided to make an example of; remember, you don''t have to be charged or even guilty to receive the ''treatment'' by your standards. In fact, I hope it does happen to a couple of you, maybe then you''ll see how stupid you are and sound. - Reply to this comment
- Oh, yes please, bring back the days when cops could beat a confession out of a suspect, even if they weren''t guilty. The days when bad cops could vent their sadistic and bully tendencies. How about lynching? Let''s bring that back too. Why even worry about proof or evidence or a trial. Cop street justice, yeah. Idiots.

- u know its funny u said that because i''m not KKK, i''m the regular face of a white person today. Isn''t it sad?? anger is brewing up, anger that WASNT there before, because I am sick and tired of everything being a black and white issue. I didnt make it that way...you media people did. it''s a shame it has to come to this, BUT I don''t see you stepping up to the plate ..(where are those million men after they got their t shirts?) to keep your own babies safe! Train your own young men to be Good citizens..is that too much to ask? Daddies, stick around and give out the correction. Stop the killing, stealing, hurting, robbing, lying, covering up, hustlin, and dope dealing!

Why you want to defend them?? I hope you get to live in the world you want...without cops, since you hate them so much. yea yea some of them are bad...but I don''t see YOU out on the streets trying to make it a better, safer place for NONE of us!

- and it had nothing to do with race, often it was like they''d crack you upside the head when you did wrong, but wouldnt arrest or fine you, but you still learned your lesson. Even those days if you were pulled over drunk the cop would follow you home or make you walk instead of ruining your life.

- member the good ol days when cops could beat the snot out of anyone just cause they were cops, and sure, sometimes it went to far, but there was a certain street justice that held thing accountable and there was also a respect partially based on fear that you knew you didnt %^&%* with cops. Now a days theyve been castrated.

- Hopefully some of the cops were black. That way we won''t hear from Afro Sharpton and Jesse Blackson. From what I understand all three "suspects" were able to walk. That in my opinion deserves some scrutiny. When thugs commit crimes with guns and then lead a car chase, they shouldn''t be able to walk afterwards. Apparently the cops weren''t tapping their heads with the batons hard enough.
The mugshots of the 3 "victims" tells it all. They look like fine upstanding citizens. They should have been beaten within an inch of their lives. - Reply to this comment
- The so-called "victims" are lucky the Police didn''t shoot first and then ask questions...especially since they just shot up a bunch of people on the streetcorner....100% support to the "Philly" Police Dept!...It''s tough out there on the streets....

Sure a cop is going to shoot you, plant a gun on you and go to an ATM with your card and use it where his picture can be taken. Of course you willingly gave him your pon number before he shot you. Your an idiot. - Reply to this comment
- All the idiots on here bad mouthing police officers make me sick. Sure there are bad cops just like in every element of society there are bad people. I believe most police take the job because they want to give back to their community and help people. I know to get on the police force at least in major cities you have an aptitude teast as well as a mental evaluation, morte than most civilian jobs require. How oftendo you see th police abusing someone ? How often have you passed them on the road and they are stopped helping a stranded motorist ? Think about this the next time you become a victim and see who you will call.
