FlaMom1, you are so right. We''ve transcended our animal beginnings and we know a lot about the healthy ages to have babies (between 22 and 28 the healthiest babies are born with the fewest complications).

We also understand a lot more about indoctrination and mind-control, and calling the FLDS a "religion" is way beyong a misnomer. Men told to leave and have their wife or wives and children assigned to another man; girls given to older men as *** slaves; young boys showing a natural interest in young girls banished. Nothing religious about it.

I hope they clean out this hornet''s nest and figure out better ways to stop the cycle of abuse. All of these people have been mentally damaged and will have a tough time with life if they see through the brainwash.

My mother was involved in polygamy, my sister was involved in polygamy, and my brothers were raised in it. The younger girls being coerced and manipulated into marrying older men is not a lie. I''ve heard of the old, "leaders," trading 13 and 14 year old daughters for each other''s newest additions to their families. It is a disgusting and abhorrent practice. If legal adults want to cohabitate in combinations of males, or females, that is their business. The young girls, are only allowed education to the eighth grade, they have ten children by the time they are 25, and if they figure out they have the power to make their own choices, they have no education and ten children. I know how hard it was to try to help my younger brothers get out of polygamy, and I''m not sure I was very successful at re-programming their brains. One brother is in prison in Nevada for molesting his step-daughter for four years. He still doesn''t think he did anything wrong. The other brother has been married and divorced several times and his alcoholism has affected the lives for about 9 children between his own and his step-children.

I applaud the State of Texas for intervening to break up the compound. I hope they will offer services to the mothers to assist them with education and job skills so they can be self sufficient and get their children back. To hell with the old men.
