more outsourcing/NAFTA, unemployment, an unending war. Those "Independent" threatening to vote for McCain, just because they "hate" Clinton, deserve the worst McCain.

Posted by zoe2006 at 09:03 AM : Apr 29, 2008

It takes a lot of gall, for any Dem to talk about NAFTA given HRC''s own documented schedule to plug it, or CAFTA which she and her husband received over 800K in their joint bank accounts for Bill to lobby for it. A lot of gall, and a lot of blind sheep following. as for outsourcing and insourcing (illegals taking jobs) HRC gets an F- on those issues too and you know it.

a view from behind bars; my family lost 90% of it''''s savings within 6 months of george w bush being elected and since have seen little to no increases in wages. after a lifetime of doing well we are almost destitute...this piddly amount he''''s trying to buy favor with is his leagacy to america, DESTRUCTION of the working middle class for the good of the wealthy.

have a nice day.

Posted by miami_21 at 06:09 AM : Apr 29, 2008

And just think about how much more you could have helped your family..if you were not behind bars. Certainly, you are one less contributing person to help them out and one more contributing factor to their demise financially.

We will need to save with how much gas will cost if people are dumb enough to vote for McCain! Juan McCain would bring more war, more debt, and worst of all, total amnesty for illegals!

Posted by TRBundro1277 at 04:17 AM : Apr 29, 2008

Hillary and Obama have said the war will continue.

Hillary and Obama have said they will intitiate programs like UHC that will cost TRILLIONS on top of the war and be never ending, as well as bail out programs for the mortgage crisis, credit cards and gas tax holidays.

Hillary and Obama said the 12 to 18 million illegals here will be staying and they will only tighten the borders to future illegals--same thing Congress and Reagan said in 1988 and it did NOT happen.

so while you rag on McCain, the other candidates appear to really not be much better, if you listen to their campaigning.

disagree. Check out the IRS website. It says the economic stimulus package is not taxable and does not affect in any way 2007 or 2008 taxes.

Posted by NonayaBiness at 03:57 AM : Apr 29, 2008

They said the last one was not taxable also--but it appeared as a tax credit on my next years return (because I did not get the rebate) and I bet it did not appear as a credit on any of those who did get a rebate. You always pay, they just have rewritten how you are told that horrible truth, that''s all.

Posted by onceagirl at 12:20 AM : Apr 29, 2008

That is not quite accurate, since most revolutions (with the exception of the industrial revolution) took place before there ever was such a thing as the middle class (which rose towards the end of the 19th century)

Revolutions are the natural result of the peasant or common man, finally realizing that they are never going to be allowed at the table without a fight and that, all things being equal, governments and elitist work to keep their clubs exclusive and most others out. Socially, economically, intellectually, etc. IN fact the credo is still: "If you keep them dumb and drunk/doped/distracted...then you can keep the populace happy" this is how they kowtow to the mob.

That''''s the truth of it. The Republicans have never had any sense with regard to fiscal responsibility and George the rabid pink monkey is no minor exception.

Posted by RandyNason at 10:15 PM : Apr 28, 2008

Be truthful and fair: The Dems are just as responsible for this fiasco--they piled on and increased the original 130 billion significantly--by all means point out how stupid this is--but don''t delude yourself in thinking the Dems stupidity is any less than the Republican stupidity for this rebate or the war spending for that matter.

Dear Bush and Congress:

In order for the tax rebate to truly work and jumpstart the economy, Americans will be needing the same amount every other week for the next two years. LMAO

Does that sound like a country that would like to see our economy go down the tubes ? (note - we are their largest trade partner by far).

Posted by speakinup at 07:23 PM : Apr 28, 2008

Of course China does not want us to go down the tubes, but they may not be able to stop our slide. At present, they are already heavily subsidizing our trade with them keeping prices for goods artificially low due to our inflation rate--but they can only take the hit for so long. As for affluence, that is a relative term. The average Chinese still makes less than 3K a year and live in multigenerational families in one home. Comparatively speaking, that is not affluent. Also, China relies heavily on prison slave labor and child labor. Given such a demographic, it is not unemployment that really worries them but simply that such pop will not be able to supplement the country much longer in the event of a slowdown. But again, China or any country can only help so much--because no matter how cheap the goods or how favorable the trade, they cannot create competitive jobs in America so that Americans can continue to spend money on the stuff they make AND survive in our society.

Yeah, good luck getting Americans to make the effort (and commitment) to look for and purchase American made goods. One visit to your local big-box retailer proves that even they... American businesses themselves will not support other American businesses.

Posted by djberson at 07:22 PM : Apr 28, 2008

I''ve been buying American for years. From the construction jobs to the jeans we wear, they are made in America (see the buckle for American made jeans) my veggies are locally grown, I pay only Americans for labor, and until recently, I even bought my gas from the only still America owned oil company and used an American based computer firm. I may have to change the latter and now, I buy my gas whereever--but as much as possible, from tilesetter to painter, to buying items--I buy American and pay more--why? Because in the end, what I do, will affect what we become.
That''s why.

Time to play: WWMHO do? to see how each cand. will address Bush''s legacy:

1. We are in a war without end.
M: stay there 100 yrs or until Vietnam is truly won.
H: stay there at least 10 years with a few token drawdowns to appease anti war activists--keep that bagdhad embasssy though.
O: ditto to Hillary

2 The Government is spending money we do not have thus increasing inflation.
M: continue unabated in a war that costs almost 30 BILLION per month, let the housing crisis sort itself out, not raise taxes
H: start a multi-trillion dollar UHC program and make it MANDATORY as well as bail out mortgage debtors, rein in cafta and nafta, give us a gas tax holiday, and raise taxes all with less Americans to pay those bills and inflation sky high.

Obama, same as H, but UHC is optional, no gas tax.

3. Millions of Americans are being laid off and are struggling to find work: MHO: all 3 would like to permanently add the 12 to 18 million illegals to our job rolls, so Americans can compete with illegals for jobs that they never should have had in the first place

Yep. we see how BAD each cand. will be for the country right now--but some will be worse than others--they will probably run the country like they run their campaign, spend a lot, and increase debt, then wait for a bailout from the public. Thank you for playing What would MHO do? LOL

Then, obviously those "Independents" are stupid and not looking at the "policies and issues" that would effect them..i.e., more outsourcing/NAFTA, unemployment, an unending war. Those "Independent" threatening to vote for McCain, just because they "hate" Clinton, deserve the worst McCain.

Posted by zoe2006 at 09:03 AM : Apr 29, 2008

Yep---they sure do--and they don''t mind that. Because some things need killing--like the dreams of the Clinton dynasty and nasty smear campaigning and if electing the bad choice is the way to do it--then we must bite the bullet, endure the horror of the bad Republican years once again and send the message loud and clear: You pay for the things you do--and the consequences may be the Dems once again snatching defeat from the jaws of victory--but not to worry...word is over 40% Clinton supporters will be casting their votes for McCain if Obama is the nominee and Obama''s supporters have not quite reached those numbers of Dem defection yet. But keep in mind, the Independents owe Dems NOTHING and the plans to spend, spend, spend as touted by HRC and Obama in their UHC/mortgage bailout/nafta-cafta plans/tax rebates/gas holidays/continued...only makes them an irresponsible and expensive choice also. :)

Let us all write our local, state and federal politician and tell them to reduce government regulations. Don%u2019t just vote for somebody who claims they are giving you something, since they are the same people who will take it away from you another day. People should stop looking at the government as a hand out. The government is one group of people passing laws against another, supposedly for the good of all. We are all over regulated, over taxed at every level and this is causing people to suffer. We need less regulation, less taxes, more energy being produced here in the USA. Government works best when it is the least oppressive and most people should realize we are regulated in every aspect of our life. This is hindering growth causing people to suffer needlessly.

Posted by salmazz at 07:07 PM : Apr 28, 2008

Why do we have government regulations? Is it because, on their own and blinded by greed..companies will do almost anything to make money--including sell unsafe products, lie about their earnings and eventually crash their companies and generally corruption would run rife? Why...yes....I believe that is why we have Regulations and every time they are removed or lessened the businesses in America go wild and people die or are financially destroyed. Gee--you have absolutely no clue what you are talking about when you bleat out your Rush Limbaugh talking points.

Your Grandchildren are going to be paying your freebie back in spades! More brilliant Bush strategy! But, then I guess that difficult for mentally challenged neocon''''s to grasp! After all most of you think all that money grows on trees! You people have certainly squandered enough of other people''''s money on nothing!

Posted by grumpas at 09:01 AM : Apr 29, 2008

CORRECTION: YOU and your grandchildren will be paying the money back in spades. The payments on this little "gift" start next year and will continue for many years after this--but it is nothing compared to the payments after whoever is President passes UHC. And we will do "it all" with our incredible magic dollar and our jobs outsourced to foreign countries while the remaining jobs are devalued and we make less. Enjoy.

I make around $120,000 a year, I live in New York City, I pay more taxes than 98% of Americans, I pay MUCH higher rent that 98% of Americans, and I get ZERO tax rebate.

Is that fair?

Posted by ddhinnyc

I made a fourth of what you made. Cry me a river.

Posted by dragonwagon5 at 05:08 PM : Apr 28, 2008

You make a fourth of that but where do you live? IN NYC? I doubt it, and if this person were to move, that amount for the same job would most likely DECREASE significantly--so that with the job and rent/mortgage and cost of living, he''d be in the same boat that he was in in NYC with less money but with a 600.00 rebate check.

This stimulus will do little to help the economy, but at least it''''s $168 billion less that the idiots in Congress have to spend on wasteful projects and initiatives. Now if we could just get the Federal Reserve to stop printing $$$ out of thin air and devaluing our currency...

Posted by mbburch06 at 04:29 PM : Apr 28, 2008

Your post contradicts itself. If Congress keeps printing money out of thin air, then the 168 billion is not relevant, because for whatever they want--they''ll just print MORE out of the same thin air--until foreign countries run screaming from the worthless currency backed by nothing but promises--that we used to call our dollar.

The walmart executives wanted Bush relected so they wouldn''''t have to pay their 1.5 million people more money per hour! If Juan McCain is elected or empowered to president, i''''m leaving the country! American will rise up against the evil goverment if Juan McCain is every even to be thought of as president. Juan McCain needs to move down to Mexico and be president down there since he loves Mexicans so much!

Posted by TRBundro1277 at 04:22 AM : Apr 29, 2008

If Hillary Clinton is the Dem nominee, I know at least 100 Independents that will be voting for McCain--no matter how bad he is.

Is that fair?

Posted by ddhinnyc at 04:40 PM : Apr 28, 2008

dd ...

Yes the feds think it''''s fair .. since you make 3 times the average income .. and probably spend it.

Maybe you could choose a different city to live in?

NY has always been one of the most expensive cities in the USA to live in ...

Maybe you could get a spouse and some kids too .. that would certainly help your tax credits..

How about a mortgage? That would help?

There are way''''s my friend ... you just have to learn to play the IRS game ... although it could get very expensive in the longrun (divorce) ...

Enjoy ...

Posted by dowjones20k at 05:09 PM : Apr 28, 2008

forget divorce--the cost of a spouse and kids would far exceed the benefit of the deductions one gets each year by THOUSANDS. So that is a no go. And FYI, people who make 3 times the income of others do not spend that much more--they pay higher taxes and FICA and often all kinds of insurances depending on their profession.

but if no rebate, don''t despair. Those of us with no rebate will not have the amounts factored in as income on our taxes next year. Those who did get the money will-and will pay higher amount in taxes to offset the money they got. Those who got nothing will get a deduction for that amount that they did not get.
