It seems Bush & Friends brought the movie "Enemy of the State" to life these days. Borrowing a line from the move, the question is "who is going to monitor the monitors"?

When has the FBI been know to destroy information? Only when it wants to cover something up.

The really funny part of all this is that the American people actually believe that changing the "rules" will REALLY stop domestic surveillance. It''s all a show. Domestic surveillance will continue regardless of what lawmakers do. It will just be more discreet. And when the FBI wants to come down on somebody, they won''t mention surveillance as their reason. They''ll say they received information from an anonymous source.

However, efforts to curb domestic surveillance "feel good" and give people the illusion of privacy. So, perhaps there is some benefit to the efforts in that respect.
