There is no excuse for something like this happening, it was just luck the little girl was there. Someone needs to be fired fo gross negligence in their job.

I thought the military''s job was to protect and defend. How can there be any excuse for the military to use artillery when the public can be put in danger?

There should be, but I''ll bet that there will never be even a apology to this family.

The real reason we do groundhogs around here is for the livestock''s sake. Better those leg snapping hole diggers than a farmers livelihood. Ever watch a beautiful Steed put down ''cause it''s leg was snapped in half?.....It''s a very sad thing indeed.

I''m really sorry to read some of these sick and disgusting comments about the cat. Perhaps those indivduals, and you know who you are, forget it was a familes pet they apparently loved. Also, a 10 year old girl could have been killed had she been there. You know we humans share the planet with other species, not own it as some of the coomments here apparently think we do. Cats and other animals have feelings that are just the same as humans. They feel love and hate, anxiety, compassion, etc. Just because they don''t communicate as we do or have the same level of intelligence, dosen''t make them expendable. In fact from comments I read on here I think cats have greater intelligence than some people.

Lots of cats are being killed by artillery in Iraq. Thousands. Cats are everywhere in Iraqi cities and rural areas. Every shelling kills cats, no doubt. Does that help any of you Americans sympathize?, since you don''t seem to care about people. Just think, Iraq will be overrun by rats (the rodent kind, in addition to the human kind).

"All this aside, are you saying it''''s okay for the Army to bomb US civilian homes at random if no cats, dogs, or people die?"

Actually, I think GWNo1 wants cats to die. I think they had a traumatic experience with a cat as a child. I''ve never seen such hatred towards harmless, innocent creatures. Get a life, dude.
