You are right he did disgrace the corps. But i thik the long outstanding history of the marines can withstand against one bad apple like this. I still hold all our service mebers in high regard. And if they have lowered the standard and let some convicted felons in the service, if they take the oath seriously and make something of themselves then i also say well done to them. I had a classmate in high school. He got the choice of army or jail. He was voted most likely to end up in prison. He went in the army became a decorated soldier in Vietnam, and then went on to become an FBI agent. So some do deserve second chances.

The article said he said she came to his house, but it also stated he used her debit casrd at the bank to withdraw money, was it before or after she was killed. To cut your own throat is not an easy thing to do. Cutting someone elses throat is not that easy either. We need to wait for the trial and see what facts come to light. But he can also be charged with desertion since he was gone more than 30 days. Whether that carrys the death penalty out side a war zone i am not sure about.

Anyway, the recently captured Marine should get the death penalty for desertion during war time.

I don''t believe that the death penalty for desertion during wartime extends to stateside duty folks. I believe it''s reserved for the battlefield!

The guy would be free on the streets with no fear of criminal prosecution if this happened in India, Iran, Iraq and most of the mid-east for that matter.

I applaud the wife of the killer Marine for not helping him when he pleaded for help. The ***hole had an affair or committed rape, got another woman pregnant, killed the woman and her baby and burned their bodies in his back yard barbeque while entertaining the neighbors. If she had helped him, she would be an accomplice. I always told my husband if he got himself in trouble with his shenanigans and landed in jail, he better use his one phone call to call an attorney. Thankfully, he is now my ex.

Megamax: The two white women who robbed the bank recently and received lesser sentences than the two career criminals with them did not kill a pregnant woman and incincerate her and her baby in her back yard barbeque. Anyway, the recently captured Marine should get the death penalty for desertion during war time.

This is just a sad story but too common in today''s world.

If he didn''t kill her and she did have an accident, then he should have called the police. This sounds like an idiot, whether he raped her or not he should have just come clean and admitted what happened. Had that happen, she''d be alive, and at least he could have a second chance after prison...

I think the guy should hang. Every instant he has made the wrong choices. Whether he raped her or not something happened, and he should have confessed but didn''t. The victim shows up at his house, why? I don''t know but he should have turned her away or called the police IF he didn''t invite her over.

This Marine has dishonored the Marine Corps, and his unit. The Marines tried to train him, but failed. The Marines failed because you people failed the Marines for allowing Bush/Cheney to lower the standards of recruitment for my beloved Corps. So as far as I am concerned you people owe the Marines 2 qualified replacements. Know anyone with sons and daughters around the age of 18 to 30 living in the DC area?

At first mcvet claimed he was a ranger that served in nam in 68 and then as a ranger in Iraq. Next i heard he was a retired marine sergeant, i wonder which was it ?

To sassalin: We grow weary of "the holier than thou" who come on this site and claim to be military. You might be, but then nobody really knows, and from my experience in the military (although 40 years ago), most of us are slightly more reserved. What is at issue is the undue pressure of military life because of the unique utilization of soldiers and how that results with some committing awful crimes. Time will tell if that was the case with this guy, but to say PTSD has "nothing to do with Bush" is outrageous! He has cut V.A.services immensely, re-deployed stressed out personnel as a "back door draft" for political expediency, vetoed pay raises for those on active duty, and is presently fighting to deny Jim Webb''s new G.I. Bill for those in Iraq and Afghanistan. Certainly, even someone as intellectually limited as you are, can see the connection between the actions of the Cowardly Cowboy and a veteran reaching his "breaking point."
