To Greybeardvet, who said "Maybe my blue state bias is showing"... Maybe? Yes it is. Gawd, it is so tiring dealing with this liberal holier-than-thou attitude from the bi-coastals. Look, I''m a 6th generation born ''n bred Texan and about as liberal as they come. When Bush left our Governor''s office for DC, I thought "good, at least he''s outta here". Well, not only did he go do immeasurable damage as CIC, we got a Governor ten times worse than Bush ever was.

Look, stereotypes about an entire state just don''t cut it. It''s as if I said that everybody in MA, NY, CN, NJ, RI was a hyper-caffeinated, money-grubbing a**hole, and all Kalifornians were crystal-packing, new-age socialists. Doesn''t quite cover it, does it?

Buying into "red state/blue state" mentality just reinforces the us-v-them mentality of CNN/FOX/etc. It ain''t black and white.

What I want is an intelligent president who can speak in complete sentences and DOESN''T believe the messiah talks directly to him.

**sigh**

Gramma dear they throw the boys out. They want the girls to bear baby after baby. They can''t think for them selves. The boys are trash when they hit an age where there are useless. I pity the children.

How many people posting comments even know any polygamists from the FLDS religion? And why judge all of them from the actions of few

I think people who don''t know all the facts shouldn''t share their opinions with the public.

"Maybe my blue state bias is showing but it seems altogether fitting that this type of red-neck perversion would be taking place in Texas..."

Blue state bias? Nah, you are a worse redneck that the whole state of Texas combined. What kind of pathetic ignorant moron are you to attack the character of millions of people?

An anonymous one. Try going into a bar and announcing your assinine opinions in public. You die for them.

Night vision goggles? My guess is loads of weapons too. Very Koresh like. Men have all the power. Women slaves. Children victims. Perversion of Life. Sick.

Why a Mormon could not be president. Meantime, BIG McCain supporter, freak evangelical, Hagee, calls the Catholic church a ***. McCain? Unelectable.

In the Utah/Arizona compound of Colorado City, the mothers receive welfare. They do not identify the "father."

And there is no statute to make the children undergo a DNA test to determine who the Daddy is.

The mantra is, by FLDS Order, to rip off the taxpayers.

All of these kids need a DNA test.

Maybe my blue state bias is showing but it seems altogether fitting that this type of red-neck perversion would be taking place in Texas, the home of our Torture President. The children of these cults need to be rescued but it is not an easy proposition; many of them have strong family ties and would prefer to stay with their natural parents.

Individuals have always escaped or been tossed out, which may or may not work for them, but it does not address the pathology of the culture. The whole community should be sent to re-education camps to be deprogrammed together, without their leaders, unless the leaders have repented. The strong willed ones will never repent because they honestly believe they are doing God%u2019s work and the rest of us are going to Hell. Hey, they%u2019re Christian fundamentalists. To better understand the dynamics of this bizarre culture you might want to pick up Jon Krackaur%u2019s Under The Banner of Heaven

Bullchit, no one says that about pedophiles which is what this is, and the fact that a CHURCH and right winger religious nut is involved is absolutely no surprise to me. I''ll bet money this church is TAX EXEMPT too- your tax dollars going to support a pedo minister and his ''church of holy child phuxing''

What do you suggest, Govt spy cameras in every household now?
How are you going to determine who does what where and when unless their is a COMPLAINT and as happened- the police go out to investigate, that Id like to know.

Cheney lived in Texas and moved out of state just in time to qualify as VP. There is a law that prohibits the President and Vice President being residents of the same state.

Don''t forget Ron Paul is also from Texas.

This is a sick cult - and there should be no place in America where someone can set up their own community immune from our laws. The young girls are given to be one of many brides to old men - like it or not. The young boys are mostly thrown out to make sure there''s enough young girls to be wives. The children work and are not taught much - they aren''t supposed to be able to think. I''m glad they''re looking somewhat into this - but more needs to be done. Nowhere should someone be able to abuse children like this - both the girls and the boys need rescue.

Having lived in the area in the past, that area of Texas is full of these kind of religious zealots.
San Angelo harbors numerous cult like religions.
After all, what do you call a redneck zealot?...
A San Angeloan! They even have a big cross west of San Angelo that they think is Jesus'' Landing Strip!

I don''t understand how they get away with living like this. It is illegal to have more than one wife. It is illegal for a man to have s-e-x with a 16 year old. Why haven''t the cops busted up these places?
