I''m so sorry you live your life in fear. It must be really debilitating for you at times. Tell me, when your gun is not within reach, do you feel anxious?

Actually I don''t live my life in fear, I live my life knowing I have the ability to protect my life if I need to and that''s a very good feeling.
I don''t feel anxious when I don''t have a gun nearby because I can and have protected myself without one.
Guns are not a requirement for self defense but they can certainly help.

Unfortunately, up here in the Puget Sound, folks are not that smart. I%u2019d figure that a con would not want to hang around a prison that they just broke out of if they wanted to remain free, and they would leave the area fast.

dome200q: I live about 4 blocks from a state run mental institution. What with their rights and all 2 a day average walk away. I leave my keys in the vehicle I park outside. It is refered to as my dedicated vehicle. Steal it and leave. But don''t come into my house to get the keys. That''s why the keys are in it. I can replace this vehicle for about $600.00. Far cheaper than lawyer fees to defend myself for reacting if they were to try to come into my house. Prison residents are about the same. They want to get as far away and as fast as can be from the prison. I got no problems with a prison being close to my house. Just my thoughts not saying right or wrong.

"The Gremlin would point to yes, but that''''s Right Wing Religious country(Republicans without money), so I''''d guess Repulican.
And I''''m sure THAT Gremlin isn''''t on the road anymore. I hope they let him grab the 8-track player out of it before it went to the impound lot. "

Check your facts. The Charlottesville area is notoriously left-wing. For example, Cville city council is made up entirley of democrats. The rural areas surrounding the city isn''t much better...

singindick,
If I have to shoot and kill someone to stop them from shooting and killing me or someone I love, you better believe I will not think twice.
Self defense is the most basic of human rights.
If you outlaw guns only outlaws will have guns!

bozworth4, I totally agree with you, but there is a counter point. It takes money to feed and house cons, and every time the State wants to build a new prison, people rise up in arms about the prison being in their area. There has to be some give an take to make things happen.

Why can''''t those who are fixated on deadly weapons able to give a little ground to get these weapons out of the hands of the crazies?

I own guns! If the authorities can''t regulate the present laws, maybe gun owners should report known violations. To keep our guns, we may all have to kiss a lot of frogs. guns in this type of nuts hands makes it bad for the rest of us.
In my neighbor hood 37 stolen guns were taken from a felons house. After 3 years of jockying and dealing he got 5 years of probation. He was already on the 2nd year of a five year probation for receiving stolen goods. Where are the crime and punishment. Put teeth in our present laws. We gun owners are going to have to be the ones to help enforce the laws. Lets get to work on this instead of sitting on our hands waving the rights flag and repeating the same old stuff!!! It''s time to get the guns out of the hands of nuts!!!

exCoachKen,
FYI
Back when the the Bill Of Rights was written, well-regulated meant capable, or well trained.
