Some of you are deluded that immigrant "foreigners" are wasting "our" money, when the truth is this, the Social Security program was set up to create a fund that would take care of people who are too old or infirm to work anymore for their living, the money was deducted from every paycheck we received, and was supposed to be put into this "untouchable" fund.

The problem is that the "untouchable" fund was touched often, billions of dollars were borrowed against it, to be allocated to the military industrial businesses, embezzled by markups for equipment and services provided by the companies involved, and a portion was kicked back as bribes to the politicians to continue the criminal idiocy.

The "boomers" worked and contributed in sufficient numbers, but now that it is time to collect, the politicians are saying there is not enough money, and many of the posters here stupidly blame "the illegals", refusing to admit that the people they voted into office, and the socio-political policies they supported have reached their logical conclusion.

I just finished reviewing my Constitution. I still cannot find the expiration date. The only section I can find to support your argument is actually in the Communist Manifesto. My Constitution does not authorize this Ponzi Scam we call Social Insecurity and socialized medicine.

Where do you think the government gets its money? How much do you think they will have to raise taxes, and god(vernment) forbid, reduce benefits to pay back Social Insecurity? In other words, We the People are going to have to pay We the People back. The government DOES NOT HAVE ANY MONEY. They just spend our money.

do people really believe that the way "pooled" money is supposed to work is that you get back exactly what you put in? NO, the money is pooled, so that some more unfortunate than you, the disabled, or widowed, or orphaned get more than what THEY payed in, and the rest of us get back a little less, with the knowledge that if we end up in that position, WE will get a little more (don''t you want your kids or your widow to be helped out if you are not around to do so after paying your SS taxes?). If you put that money in private investments, it sure will look good if you retire during boon years, but what happens to the significant percentage that turn 65 during a recession (much less invest it stupidly)? Who returns their money then? The system is fine (although it needs to be updated for age of retirement, and caps on earnings taxed eliminated). As for health insurance, keep saying that the government will make healthcare worse, despite the FACT that almost every other nation in the world gets relatively better healthcare (by all available measures) by letting government run it instead of profiteers, and it is obvious that the system as is, is failing us. Wake up people, government services are not socialism (are firefighters socialist tools, or snowplows?) corporations are the ones gaming the system and using your fear to steal what is rightfully yours. Do you really believe that those who tell you to fear such things aren''t paid handsomely by those who will profit from your fears?

Simple, end the war in Iraq and use the $2.4+ billions of dollars spent weekly for Social Security and Medicare. Two or three weeks should be enough.
Then, use the rest to take care of our veterans, maintain our infrastructure, improve our schools, pay raises for police and school teachers, etc . etc.
Yeah, 100-200 hundred billions of dollars should take care of a lot of things on the home front.
Bonus; the killing of young Americans and hundreds of thousands of innocent Iraqi men, women and children would stop.
