maybe Cheshire Connecticut. It''s crawling with people who think the same way you do... atleast they did. - Reply to this comment
- How that weapon is used depends on circumstances not always determined by the gun owner.

A responsible gun owner will take steps to make it as
difficult as possible for anyone to steal their guns or use them improperly. Training and practice are also
very important. - Reply to this comment
- billorights, do you mean drugs like alcohol, tobacco, etc...? yes, drugs are used to escape reality... or enhance it... what are drugs used for? killing people? is that why people buy drugs? to anticipate killing another person? hmmm... hand guns are used for one purpose only: to kill another human being...

- to prevent people from buying and using drugs, but, we spend hardly anything on regulating gun ownership. obviously, our priorities are: killing people is ok, using drugs is not.

There is no amendment protecting our right to drugs. Killing people IS OK, when it is done in defense from a criminal who wants to kill you. - Reply to this comment
"US Airways Pilot''s Gun Fires In Cockpit"
Actual headline should read:
"US Airways Pilot''s Gun Fires In ***- Pit"- Reply to this comment
- using a gun is not self-defense...

Did you know that guns are used in self defense over 80,000 times every year in America most of the time without even one shot being fired?
Some studies and criminologists say the number could be over 1,000,000 times a year. - Reply to this comment
- buying a gun is premeditated killing...
Posted by tulcak
That''s not true. Buying a gun is premeditated defense from someone killing you, for the estimated 2.5million people a year in the U.S. who fall into that category. - Reply to this comment
- gunowner, using a gun is not self-defense... a hand gun is offensive: as someone else did earlier, they quoted Gen. Patton "kill the poor son of a *** before he can kill you" our society is not a war... it is a society. we shouldn''t be trying to kill the other poor son of a *** before he kills us... i would like to live in a society that celebrates peace.

- buying a gun is premeditated killing....when you buy drugs, you are looking for a good time. - Posted by tulcak
I have bought several guns over the years, and they have never come close to killing anyone.
Buying drugs is actually done to escape reality. If your life didn''t suck, you wouldn''t need drugs. But the drug info does help to explain your other comments. - Reply to this comment
- and, most of the violence associated with drug use is due to the fact that it is illegal and there is easy access to killing devices: hand guns

- To me owning guns is about whether or not you take your responsiblity to protect your own life seriously.
Self defense is the most basic of human rights and you cannot rely on the police to be your own personal bodyguards. - Reply to this comment
- so, why do we spend billions (now trillions over the history of the "war on drugs") to prevent people from buying and using drugs, but, we spend hardly anything on regulating gun ownership. obviously, our priorities are: killing people is ok, using drugs is not.

- drug usage is not overt like hand guns are... when you buy drugs, you are looking for a good time... when you buy a hand gun, you are looking ahead to the possiblility of using that hand gun to kill someone... you tend to make owning a gun an act of neutrality, like buying a pair of pants... buying drugs is done to give pleasure... buying a gun is premeditated killing...

- if drugs were legal, would there still be people addicted to drugs?
Posted by tulcak
There will always be people addicted to drugs whether or not it is legal.
But prohibition clearly doesn''t help things.
The lesson should have been learned from the failure of alcohol prohibition. - Reply to this comment
- the people who made drugs illegal are responsible for people''s addiction to drugs? is this correct?
Posted by tulcak
In some cases, yes.
Certain drugs are much easier for young people to get because of prohibition since there are no rules or regulations involving the sale or distribution.
For example, when I was in high school you could buy marijuana in the middle of class from your classmates but alcohol was actually harder to get because its sale is regulated. - Reply to this comment
- i think we can say that gun addiction is probably just as strong as drug addiction... how do you think we can deal with these addictions? the thing with guns is that someone always gets hurt or killed... this is not true with drugs...
