"Accidental Discharge" First Time Shot Fired Under Federal Armed Pilots Program
- Hey USBrit
The London Times published a story on January 16th that sums up the situation rather well. The headline reads, "Killings Rise As 3 Million Illegal Guns Flood Britain". Armed crime rose 10% in 1998 and the numbers for 1999 may be even more dramatic.

The IRA had to do something with their armories. Armed (gun) crime is up, yes, but it''s nowhere near the same level as the US.
What I meant by the gun issue is not gun control issue, it''s more why there are so many more gunownerdan''s over here than anywhere else? I wonder how many people owned guns in the UK before the ban went into effect - very few I would suggest. Same with Australia in the cities. - Reply to this comment
- Gunownerdan, after complaining about stereotyping then offers the stereotype of single mothers needing their guns to protect their little children - presumably from the same thugs and criminals Dano is perfectly happy to arm. Or are you a single mother huddled in her urban basement Dan?
Anyone who defines their identity by their weapons (ie "gunowner" dan) is the LAST person who should be armed. Anyone who come on public forums and uses gross negligence by a gun user (a pilot shooting up the cockpit) to argue FOR more guns and LESS responsibility is not interested in decreasing gun deaths.
I''ve read your posts Dan. I know you''re a sociopath who is incapable of caring about other people. I get it. A whole river of blood and schoolyards full of other people''s dead children mean nothing to you. You''ve made that very clear. The rest of us, however, do not share your mental disease.
Go back to your basement and plot your gun crime, or mass murder, or whatever violence lives in your mind and PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE consider using your weapon on yourself before you use it on one of us. - Reply to this comment
- "what''''''''s a good gun to start my two year old on? The Colt 45 I got him knocks him on his pampers and he has trouble loading the magazine."

A .22 revolver is a good choice. Little recoil, no brass all over the playroom, and cheap enough ammo for the "training years." Can he fly a plane?

Wht about air marshalls?
If the stronger doors are good enough let''s get rid of air marshalls too. - Reply to this comment

- We dont have enough information as to how the gun accidentally went off. I support pilots having the means to protect the plane. That said, I feel this pilot has a lot of splanin to do, as Desi would say.

- Great story. I guess we can look forward to more "accidents" like this, and the potential for an OK Corral style shoot out, at 40,000 feet? More brilliant thinking by the moron-in-chief and his fellow goons.

- "Now when terrorists make a surprise entry into the cockpit using a makeshift shiv, they can grab the gun"

Cockpits have been upgraded with extra strong doors to prevent unauthorized entry. Plus, if some criminal is holding a knife and he tries to take your gun, that''s when you pull the trigger. - Reply to this comment
- I grew up learning to shoot my dad''s rifle at a very young age. We lived in a remote area of the country where stores were many miles away and hunting for meat was a necessity. While I firmly believe in the right to own guns, I don''t own any. However, if someone broke into my house, I may not come out unscathed, but neither would he or she. He would have to deal with my anger, rage, my baseball bat, and my igneous rocks.
