21-Year-Old Arrested And Held; Police Still Searching For Second Suspect

Yes, it is part my doing. But I think people don''t give enough weight to opportunity. Luck is where opportunity meets preparation. I also have to say that I was part of a school busing program in the 1970s. I went to school far outside of the inner city. I think that was the first opportunity. - Reply to this comment

Okay, maybe you are an Iraq freedom fighter. I agree, we have thugs at all levels of American society. Some get libraries named after them. - Reply to this comment
- There is no excuse for this type of murder whether your white, black, brown, yellow or pink. People have a choice and they know the difference between good or evil.
I am sick and tired of the bleeding hearts who defend the this criminals. - Reply to this comment
- Nah, you''re kidding me, right? Not these young men. One only has to look at their pictures to discern the intelligence and sensitivity within. Certainly, this is just another blatant example of a rush-to- judgement. "Calling Al Sharpton".

- Ya gotta love the folks who jump on and post about all the racists in the closet ...
Even though the suspects are black ... it makes no difference .. if indeed they are proven to be the KILLERS, they should be dealt with accordingly and if the death sentence is available ...... see ya...
These alledged thugs have taken an aspiring life and certainly have caused unknown pain to this young lady''s family.
They deserve every consequence they get and I would feel the same way if they were PINK !!!

I''m a big supporter of two-parent households, unless there is abuse, etc. in the household. Then, I think single parenting with a loving parent is a better option.
The challenge that I''ve seen in the inner city is that historically black women have had an easier time finding jobs than black men. This already causes friction in families. Regardless of what is said, many men have trouble when a woman makes more money than he does.
Regardless, I found mentoring for myself to be a good option. I saw opportunities through people that I didn''t know existed. For most of my life, I had no idea that you could be an engineer, for example. This possibility was shown to me by a very kind person who happened to be white. - Reply to this comment

This is our society, not just the black society. I grew up in an inner city neighborhood. I received mentoring and guidance from people who were both black and white. I had many people who expected much from me and I didn''''t want to let them down. What you are saying is not true, because I lived it.

Illegitimacy among inner city blacks is running at about 70% - do you seriously think this isn''t a factor in how these kids grow up? You don''t think having a father at home during the formative years of a boy''s life isn''t going to make a difference in how he grows up and the morals he adopts?
I''m speaking in generalities obviously - sure there are lots of kids that turn out great despite horrific upbringings. Overall, however, if you want to bring up a boy not to be a sociopath, having a father there to teach him what it means to be a man sounds to me like a pretty good place to start. Certainly better than a social worker and a new basketball court... - Reply to this comment

Also, as a society we know kids are growing up in violent situations. We have to get rid of this GREEN ZONE/RED ZONE mentality. - Reply to this comment
- You know who I hate more than the racists on here? It''''s the the heads-in-the-sands "PC" freekin liberals who keep saying "leave race out of this", as if race has nothing to do with any crime. When we all can read, and we all know that it does.

My concern is about the kid who hasn''t done anything wrong yet. I''ve seen it myself. Most kids at the age of five are happy and have dreams and hopes and goals. Something happens between the ages of five and about ten or eleven. You can see it. Something changes and that''s when things become dangerous. If we can stop it there, we might be able to really help. By the way, I''ve seen this with many kids, not just of any particular color. - Reply to this comment
- Why have a trial? These two should be presented to the court, evidence presented against, sentenced to death by guillotine, and executed.

- I find it utterly amazing that our country has no method of weeding out the chaff from the wheat, and disposing of those who contribute nothing to the garden of our population.
This scum should have long ago been airlifted to an isolated island in the Pacific where he and his criminal drug addicted peers could live out their pathetic worthless lives, as long as they could figure out a way to grow food and find water and survive. Call them the ultimate survivors. If they can%u2019t survive then they won%u2019t live. But take them away out of our sight.
We should remove them from the general populace just as we remove insects, mold and vermin. - Reply to this comment

There are many kids at-risk. If you want to change the contrast, we need more volunteers to help. It doesn''''t take much time for a kid to feel wanted and loved. If someone doesn''''t care about himself, he will never care about another. As a baby, it never starts out this way.

The necrosis of the black inner city culture will not end until blacks themselves step up to bat. Bill Cosby tried to bring this up and got lambasted. If Al & Jesse want to do some real good they should expend their efforts in the direction of remedying one of the most pervasive problems among inner city blacks - absentee fathers. These kids grow up to become vermin because no one is ever there to ensure they are raised properly, and as un-P.C. as it may sound, a woman can''t handle a 14 year-old boy like a man can. We don''t need more volunteers, no Hillary''s village - we need black males to step up and take responsibility for their children! - Reply to this comment
