It dosn''t have to be about race, regardless of their color if they committed this crime they are not fit to live in society and never will be. Rehabilitation works for only a small percentqge of criminals. I DON''T CARE ABOUT COLR ONLY ABOUT IF THEY ARE GUILTY. - Reply to this comment

Maybe a 12 year old president would be an improvement over what we have now, actually anything would be an improvement. - Reply to this comment
- 2nd Suspect In Slaying Of UNC Student? As the title suggests one or more individuals had no direction for their lives. They randomly went out and killed themselves a person. They were never taught about taking responsibility for their own actions. They could have reached out for the Lords love to guide them. As it is they only wanted self! The death penalty finalizes a murderer%u2019s earthly decision! To take a life brings consequences, their come-up-ins. It also gives the killer time to get right before his maker. Thus there is an end to this life but grace to find the Lord before the next. This sets a precedent. See it%u2019s that simple! A murderer%u2019s core being is bent on self! To take a life at random is hideous! The Mother and Father of this girl are at this time grief stricken. My heart and prayers for them is that Gods love for them will see them through this!

- The way we scope things is very important. We can scope by human or by race or by culture or by country or even by age and gender, there are many scoping options and the choice drives us! Humans are only protected based on their weakest link! I recall when HIV and AIDS was first discovered in Africa, the first few documented cases. No one really cared, it was far away, way over there in Africa, let them deal with it, only they have it! The scope wasn''t Human, it was national. A lot or precious time was lost in the early days in dealing with AIDS, now AIDS is all over the World, out of control, the price humans paid for their limited selfish scope! Humans are only as strong as their weakest link! Not a great example but you get the point.

You can''t suppress an entire culture through "systematic strangulation", deny it access to quality education, employment, housing, food and keep it caged up in ghettos with thousands of people in the same boat living on top of each other with no hope or way out and not expect to breed bad seeds out of that situation. The effects are well documented, and while never an excuse there is cause and effect, answer that! - Reply to this comment
- Black people = 13% of the USA population.
That''s a MEGATON of killing & crime for such a small segment of the population. Agreed? Or do you want to blame it all on slavery & racism?
If black men & Hispanic men disappeared tomorrow, there would be a HECK of a lot less crime/murder in the USA.
I invite you to prove me wrong. Don''t just scream as if you were Al Sharpton or Jesse. PROVE ME WRONG. I dare ya.
You can''t do it. Impossible. IT''S TRUE. - Reply to this comment
- Another stupid homey. We seem to have an endless supply of violent thugs in this country. Don''t care whether they live or die or make it to 40. So why should they care about a pretty white woman? Her life means as much to them as a fly buzzing around their head.
You can''t rehabilitate this kind of slime. They spend their short lives going back & forth to jail/prison. You think they''re going to wake up one day & stop the gangster life? Decide to take a job at the postal service or driving an 18-wheeler for Wal-Mart? It''s not going to happen.
It''s time to take out the trash. Exterminate the violent thugs. Clear out the prisons so you don''t have all these junkies in there who are only hurting themselves. Make room for the real dangerous punks that prey on innocent citizens 24-7. You haven''t got the space or the money to lock up all of these people busted for drug offenses.
Stick the murderers, rapists, kidnappers, etc, behind bars. That''s what prisons were created for. Protect the people of the USA. NO PAROLE. SOLITARY CONFINEMENT. Castrate them. Lock them up & throw away the key. - Reply to this comment

Now on the flip side .. life without parole (40 yrs) in prison cost ranges from $600,000 to $900,000 (again dependig on whose numbers you use), there is *NO AUTOMATIC APPEAL* and the *TAXPAYER STOPS PAYING FOR THE LAWYER* at this point, either someone must raise the money for a lawyer or the convict must find one to work for free. Usually its game over.
Now I for one think that the economics of the death penalty make it a bad deal for the country, too much money for revenge IMO and that money could be better used elsewhere.
And to be honest .. while this case with video of the suspect using her ATM card etc is pretty convincing overall I don''t think our justice system is foolproof enough to be executing as many people as we do, especially given the number of people released from death row lately. If they come up with some better science or a better way of collecting evidence that isn''t based on what the cops and prosecutor want to find rather than everything thats available I reserve the right to change my mind and start looking for a tall tree. - Reply to this comment

I hope NC has a DEATH PENALTY and I hope its like Texas. (snip for length) No 20 years of appeals and all that bull *** either.

I hope they don''t ... and not for the reasons you might think.
They WILL get appeals .. they are *automatic*, and WE THE TAXPAYER will pay for as many lawyers billable hours as they can figure a way to cram onto that bill for the next 4-7 years .. total cost ranges between $3-6 million (depending on whose numbers you want to use).
