- That''s fine with me. How about no shallow accusations that somehow the NRA condones murder or is in some way to blame.

- What a terribly sad thing, and such a pretty, sweet kid. She is about the age of my grand-daughter who will be starting college in the Fall.
How in the world does this kind of thing happen? And please, no shallow solutions from the punks in the NRA about how she should have been carrying a gun. - Reply to this comment
- I actually hope that anyone with an inclination to do so will google all of this info. and enlighten everyone as to whether or not it''s accurate. I''m sure everyone is only interested in the truth, if there are discrepancies, by all means, straighten it out, but don''t just argue about it because you don''t like what it says. Hmm... Hmm... I still fail to see how these stats, where the connection between gun control and the following genocide is tenuous at best, have anything to do with the U.S. in the 21st Century. (Unless of course Cheney is crazier than even I think).

That all you got? Out of all that info.? I don''t have a bunker under my house or a 3 year supply of canned goods in the cellar-in other words, I''m not a paranoid alarmist. What I am, though, is completely aware of the fact that history has always repeated itself in some form or fashion. Of course we wouldn''t see it coming. If you put a frog it boiling water, it jumps out. If you put a frog in warm water and slowly heat it to boiling, he will sit there until he dies. (I really don''t know if the frog will do that or not, but the point should be pretty clear even for USBRITforbrains) Look, do I think our government is going to suddenly turn communist on us? No, not really, but I know big, bigger, and bigest government control is not the answer either. - Reply to this comment
- [Gun nutz always quote %ages when talking about foregn gun stats becaue they''''re so low in comparison to the US that there arguments look ridiculous when using real numbers.]

percentages are perfectly fine to use when trying to identify trends and normalize for population differences.
as with all statistics ... presenting only select ones ... and completely ignoring others ... is a technique utlized to make their argument.
and it''s being done on both sides here. - Reply to this comment

Calling Australia, calling Australia - Please someone supply demonseed here the actual numbers not percentages involved here. Like is it 2 to 7 in Victoria? I gotta go, hopefully someone overnight will be able to supply the answer. Why don''t you do it instead of assigning it to someone else? I, personally, couldn''t care less about percentages vs numbers simply because I''m not going to change my views on the topic either way. Here it is: We need gun control in moderation, period. We do not need to completely disarm the citizenry any more than the average Joe needs an uzi or a machine gun. Somewhere in the "middle ground" zone should do just fine, actually leaning more toward gun control. But, and here''s the kicker, someone needs to come up with a way to get the dangerous toys away from the bad guys and not just the good guys. Obviously, no one has done that yet. The solution, however, is not to disarm everyone. - Reply to this comment

- It has now been 12 months since gun owners in Australia were forced by a new law to surrender 640,381 personal firearms to be destroyed by their own government, a program which cost Australian taxpayers an estimated $500 million dollars. The first year results are now available for review:
1. Australia-wide, homicides have increased 3.2%. In the state of Victoria alone homicides with firearms have increased 322%!
2. Australia-wide, assaults have increased 8.6%.
3. Australia-wide, armed robberies have increased 44% (yes, 44%. That%u2019s not a typo.).
Statistics for the previous 25 years have shown a steady decrease in armed robberies. This has changed drastically upward in the last 12 months as criminals are now guaranteed that their victims will be unarmed. There has also been a dramatic increase in the number of assaults against the elderly and burglaries of elderly peoples%u2019 homes in the last 12 months. Australian politicians are at a loss to explain why public safety has decreased so much after such a monumental effort was made to rid Australian society of guns. While they may be ignorant of the facts, the Australian results and other historical facts listed above speak volumes to me.
Obviously these facts will not appear on American television or radio news as these media are controlled by left-wing nuts.
