Don''t let my last posting to this story confuse you, I think To Catch a Predator serves a valuable social function.

NBC runs a risk like that with shows like To Catch a Predator.

"...but that line seems a bit fuzzy if he never acted upon what he said he would do was his intent to actually do it..."

Don''t they make immigrants take some classes in the English grammar before they let them post online?

.."i''''m sure the law speaks to intent.."

I think it all depends on who the law is, at that particular time?

[In the lawsuit, Patricia Conradt said NBC "steamrolled" police to arrest her brother after telling police he failed to show up at a sting operation 35 miles away. ]

well ... if he failed to show up then was he really serious about the things he typed online? i''m sure the law speaks to intent ... so if so, he''s technically guilty ... but that line seems a bit fuzzy if he never acted upon what he said he would do. was his intent to actually do it ... or just fanticize about it in a chat room amongst anonymous players.

and if the case is about technicality ... then the fact that he wasn''t actually exchanging posts w/ a 14 year old ... but rather a 19 year old posing as a 14 year old seems like another technicality.

I have always said what a nice disposition you have.

Yes, and it also shows those parents the potential dangers in allowing themselves on the internet.

Tucker,
I don''t know why I am responding to your moronic comments, but I think he pretty much proclaimed his guilt with the bullet in his head!! And how do you classify this arrest as "routine". Again, there was probably some sensationalism in the arrest process, but he obviously had access to a gun, since he used one to take the easy way out. What is "routine" when police arrive to arrest "an innocent until proven guilty" suspect for solicitation and the guy kills himself??? I don''t classify that as a routine arrest and I don''t think many in law enforcement would either.

I think it is great that NBC is and has exposed these sickos for what they are and it has certainly helped some parents realize the potential dangers associated with allowing their children unmonitored access to the internet. Hopefully most of the scum bags I watched get caught are in jail or have died of lead poisoning.

""FUN" to watch them? Don''''t people have anything better or more important in their lives??? Aren''''t there better things people can be doing?

Don''t you have better or more important things to do than post to a chat page? Why aren''t you creating some masterpiece or working for money?

The show is at least as interesting as "American Idol", "Bull O''Really", or Major League Baseball!

"Why don''''t we follow around and film the disgusting slime who molest and abuse members of their own family - nieces, daughters, step-daughters, dauthers-in-law, etc., etc. - oh I forgot, in this perverted nation of ours, it''''s actually acceptable to do that and everybody looks the other way - even though that''''s way more prevalent and the consequences are actually far worse because it happens over and oever again from the time the girls are very young usually. "--Posted by cgeller100

An excellent idea, and no not everybody thinks it''s OK, nor is it the fault of most normal Americans or of the USA that there are some slimy child-molesting perverts who attack their own children.

Hang them all.
