- This is unfortunately not an uncommon event. I represented a man who was serially beaten and abused by St. Louis Police officers in 2002. He jaywalked, and was treated like he was a felony murder suspect. I photographed the bruises around his neck that showed that he had been strangled.
The city dismissed the charges, but only if we agreed to drop the internal affairs complaint. Which we did. The long and short of it is that in most situations the police get away with whatever they want because they know that no one is going to look over their shoulder and criticize them.
In one case I had direct evidence that the detective provided a videotape to a witness to allow her to draw a diagram of a house where a "rape" supposedly occurred. Too bad for the cop that he didn''t know that the house had been remodeled. The diagram drawn was of the current house, not the house as the "victim" would have seen it.
If you think police abuse is uncommon, you are not living in the real world. - Reply to this comment
- If only we had the video showing what happened. If only...but the camera was turned off--by the policeman.
The fact that Wiley Willis turned off the camera is plain evidence that he was about to do something he didn''t want recorded. He knew that the union would back him up so long as there was no video of his actions.
The fact that the union backs his claims clearly explains why Wiley Willis thought he could turn off the camera and beat someone up. He believed the union would protect his criminal actions, and he was right.
But what else do we expect from unions? Honestly, every true blue union supporter I have ever met has given me a creepy feeling being around them. The best way to describe it is evil incarnate. Maybe its because unions openly espouse violence and coercion to get their way.
The fact that people want to side with Wiley Willis and the police union is clear evidence that America is a sick nation. It would be nice if everyone who approves of this Gestapo activity could experience it on the receiving end so they could understand their foolishness in a painfully memorable way. But I don''t wish that on anyone, even corrupt policemen and unionists. - Reply to this comment

You deserve to have the *** kicked out of you just for saying that. Maybe falling a couple of times might help you sympathize. - Reply to this comment
- Why do so many people just assume that this cop beat this lady up. There is no evidence at all that he did anything to her. Pure speculation.

I don''t suppose you would mind on the spot summary executions at the cop''s discretion, would you? When you are the person getting the beating, you might have a different opinion of violence under color of authority. - Reply to this comment

sounds like you are fully qualified to be one to ''protect and serve''. of course what they don''t tell you is that ''protect and serve'' only relates to them ... protect from getting their uniform ''soiled'' and ... of course ... serving themselves.
you''re hired ... just show up ... make sure you bring your unique perspective too ... and they''ll outfit you w/ an array of weapons and absolute authority.
anyone disents ... you just use your hand held torture device to electrocute them into submission. - Reply to this comment

That is such a stupid thing to say. Why would a cop take that upon theirself to beat a person up for driving drunk? If they are found guilt, they will be prosecuted. - Reply to this comment
