That statement from the story above has me completely baffled. They do qualify it by saying "at the time".

When idiots like Constantine play the race card every single time something goes wrong in their lives, it undermines those who are actual and legitimate victims.

Naturally, it makes me wonder about the ''noose'' and if she might have had a role in its appearance.
