And people can''''t shoot bullets out of their hands!

but hands strangle people. Can we outlaw hands? What about tire irons, also used as lethal weapons. Outlaw tire irons? What about knives? What about rope and duct tape?

Why not outlaw cars since cars kill more US citizens than guns do.

Why not consumable alcohol, since so many of the vehicular deaths are alcohol related? And alcohol serves no other purpose than to inebriate?

I don''t get your stance on guns, with all the tools available that also take human life?

Perhaps it really is the criminal, and not the tool, that is the issue.

100 years ago any child could order any kind of gun through the mail yet there were no school shootings.
Guns are not to blame for our failure to teach respect and personal responsibility.

The jews had access to guns during the Holocaust.

Yes, actually it wasn''t the nazis, it all started with four separate shooting sprees that left 15 people dead... soon it became 6 million.

"After Australia and England and Wales, the highest prevalence of crime was in Holland (25 percent), Sweden (25 percent) and Canada (24 percent). The United States, despite its high murder rate, was among the middle ranking countries with a 21 percent victimization rate," the London Telegraph said.
Analysts in the U.S. were quick to point out that all of the other industrialized nations included in the survey had stringent gun-control laws, but were overall much more violent than the U.S.

In March 2000, WorldNetDaily reported that since Australia''s widespread gun ban, violent crime had increased in the country.

WND reported that, although lawmakers responsible for passing the ban promised a safer country, the nation''s crime statistics tell a different story:

Countrywide, homicides are up 3.2 percent.
In the Australian state of Victoria, gun homicides have climbed 300 percent.
In the 25 years before the gun bans, crime in Australia had been dropping steadily.
There has been a reported "dramatic increase" in home burglaries and assaults on the elderly. Crime up Down Under
Since Australia''s gun ban, armed robberies increase 45%

Since Australia banned private ownership of most guns in 1996, crime has risen dramatically on that continent, prompting critics of U.S. gun control efforts to issue new warnings of what life in America could be like if Congress ever bans firearms.

People, I live in Australia and our crime rates have NOT decreased since confiscation of our guns about 10 years ago in fact it is now worse. Of course the criminals didn''''t give up their guns and they know that you now are unprotected...and I gather that the English have found the same, crime has increased.. crime in Australia was on the way down before the confiscation..

Good on you Gaye, spread your gun lobby gospel, but for a change get your facts correct.

Is it not so, in the past I have had to point out many times, your twisting of the facts to suit your own argument, so much so, that I really doubt that you are an Australian, and also that you were born in N.Z. as you claim.

If what you claim is correct, then you are certainly lacking in knowledge of your country.

It would appear that you are safer around citizens with guns that you are at your Dr. office or hospital. Should we consider a ban on hospitals & Doctors??

In a country where a president can go on a killing spree and invade another country, is it any wonder that the rest of the populace are resorting to violence too?

Violence beget violence.

We have one crazy megalomaniac in the white house.

And the other crazies seems to be crawling out of the woodwork.

Anyone could own any kind of a fireamrm in 1900, the murder rate today is 8 times higher than it was then.
It has nothing to do with gun ownership it''s th ebreakdown of society and the lack of respect for laws.
