It''s the difference between a child lying about taking a cookie out of the cookie jar and a child lying about killing somebody.

Crusherking,,, In order to get any bi-lateral passage of bills you have to have a bit of Pork, it''s the only way any republicans were on board with it.

Crusherking,,,, Actually unemployment insurance isn''t a giveaway nor does it last forever ---- & it''s the Economy which is in immediate need to stove off recession.

j-whitman,

The issue is not the elderly or veterans. The issue is $14.5 billion unemployment extension for those whose benefits have run out, $1 billion in heating aid for the poor and tax breaks for renewable energy producers and coal companies. First off, Unemployment has its limits for a reason. It should not be a free ride forever. Second, this bill will take effect well after the cold winter has passed. How is heating aid going to make any difference? Renewable energy? Well I am all for that but don''t believe this is the bill to address that issue. This is supposed to be about OUR money. As is typical in Washington, any time a bill comes up that will pass, someone adds their earmarks in because they won''t pass on their own. stop the madness. Pass the bill and move on. Create other bills for these extra billions the dems want to spend. They are just playing politics and that shows that their concern is not the American people but trying to make republicans look bad.

Aaabee, No.. My issue with Clinton is that he lied to my face. Not like what you blame Bush for. No, his lie involved no intel reports or guessing. He lied directly to me about something he did, therefore he knew firsthand that it was a lie. Thats only one of my issues with Clinton but it is the biggest one. As for Bush doing nothing with the Intel for 8 months? It was 2yrs old at that point and therefore stale intel. Kinda hard to do something with that isn''t it?

Torture.. I''ll tell you about torture. Torture is 3,000 Americans dying on 9/11. Burning to death, jumping from unspeakable heights to their deaths, being crushed by tons of rubble. Torture? Torture? How about the beheading of citizens and soldiers on Al-Jazeera television..Yes.. thats torture. You would deny us the ability to gather info that could protect millions of American lives. Yeah, I believe that torture is a necessary evil when you are at war. And if you think we are not at war with Al-Qaeda then you are sadly mistaken. Jihad is upon us and the very survival of our culture depends on us stopping Al-Qaeda at all costs. I only pray that we are able to extract the necessary information that allows us to do that. Its not something I am happy about, but it is what needs to be done in some cases to protect ourselves. Geneva convention be damned. That piece of paper will not save our lives nor is it adhered to by our enemy.

McCain was in D.C. yesterday & refused to vote to represent his state on the Econmoic Stimulus Package - "Missing in Action"

-- A vote NO would have supported the party ---- A Yes vote would have given checks to veterans & senior citizens

A lepord cannot change it''''s spots ---- He''''s a 24 year problem this country is trying to get away from.

What did Bush do with the intel he got from Clinton? For 8 months. Nothing.

Maybe you hate Clinton because he is a dem and you support Bush because he is a rep.

Clinton is over. Bush is today. America isn''t ANY SAFER today. 5 years since 9/11 and AMERICA ISN''T ANY SAFER. What about today?
