Republicans once again show what they really think of the veterans they claim to hold in such high regard. Helping disabled veterans would be too costly. Yeah, too costly. Maybe that''s what veterans should have said before they signed up to serve their country - it would be "too costly" if they got diabled defending their country. C r a p medical care and now no extra rebates for you.

Kingshaw....
Agreed that the only power we have is to close our wallets. That will get attention.

Meanwhile Congress and their MS media fail to mention their House bill that gives rebates to illegals.

Tax cuts? Rebates? Extra checks in the mail? I thought we were in debt? If we need to spend money to keep us going, well lets build bridges, schools, roads, water systems, sewage systems, and many other things that would put people to work. That would buy supplies from small business, who in turn would put people to work, who in turn would buy things made in the USA like food.
This way no one gets left out. We can try to take back America.

CREATE YOUR OWN STIMULUS PACKAGE !

1) CANCEL YOUR CABLE / SATTELITE TV: let the corporate media moguls (and their advertisers) know that you will no longer pay for their propaganda.

2) STOP INVESTING YOUR MONEY ON WALL ("WAR") STREET: corporate America is selling out the middle class to the lowest global bidder and using our own money to do it; the financial markets will push for anything that increases profits - especially war .. invest your money in land, real estate, gold and silver.

3) SUPPORT LOCAL ECONOMIES !
- Buy from local manufacturers, local retailers, local craftspeople/artisans, etc.
- if possible, BURN WOOD for heat;
- support local growers or grow some of your own food;
- implement alternative energy sources (solar, hybrid autos etc ..)
- develop local means of commerce not based on the failing US dollar.

4) AFFORDABLE HEALTH CARE BEGINS WITH YOU - healthy eating habits and exercise will create less demand on the system meaning lower costs. You%u2019ll have plenty of time to work out once you UNPLUG THE TV DRUG.

5) STOP UNNECESSARY CONSUMPTION & STOP USING YOUR CREDIT CARD !

6) DECENTRALIZE ! - the global economy is nothing more than a ploy to centralize power, control and wealth into the hands of an elite few - blinded by misinformation, the American people are buying right into it - the rich get richer and the middle class is quickly becoming the working poor.

What we need more than the rebate checks is to stop giving special deals to Big Oil, they make billions in dollars in profits off of us by artificially jacking up the price of crude and thus what goes in our tank.
But our Big Oil friendly President and his GOP cohearts will do nothing to stop this. The dems proposed changes, but the obstructionist GOP and president stood in the way of real progress.

Forget the rebates! stop the Big Oil friendly GOP!!!!

============================================

If this is a tax rebate... then how come, I, as an earner who made 105,000 (adjusted) last year and paid over 20,000 in taxes PLUS Social security tax... will get a big fat ZERO? Great rebate! I am financing YOUR check. Wonderful. OH yeah, i must be RICH right? therefore i don''t need it, *RIGHT*? WRONG! I live in the SF Bay area where home prices on avg is 600,000 for a little shack. OH yeah, i have 2 kids too. 100K does *NOT* get you far at ALL here in the bay area, although i am not struggling beyond belief or anything... but since i paid over 20K, why wouldn''t *I* deserve a rebate check when someone who DIDNT EVEN PAY into the system gets a CHECK? explain THAT one to me. I will SUE the gov''t if they give tax rebate checks to those who didn''t pay taxes and STIFF ME on getting mine. That is called discrimination my friend... and it is illegal.

SgtRDS, we only have 4.9% unemployment. We have not yet hit the sharp rise in unemployment. The government can come back an add if unemployment significantly rises.

The issue with extensions is that it has been proven to delay people from finding jobs as they lose some motivation to search.

This is mostly election year politics.

I strongly support extending unemployment benefits for those that have run out, even if it means not having any rebates at all. They need the money most and it''ll have just as big of a stimulus effect since they''ll use it to pay rent, pay utilities and buy food. Besides I''m just going to sign my rebate over to the DNC anyway.

Just pass the stupid plan! Who cares of there''s a little special interest pork. It''s free money anyway, so I really could care less if my check is reduced by $100 so it can go to a few old people. It''s a compromise.

If our so-called leaders want to stimulate the economy, they shoud announce that the Bush tax cuts will be over at the end of the year. Then the big corporations will be forced into making capital investments this year and they will dump all kinds of money into the economy in order to take advantage of the tax breaks. I''ll sure take a rebate check if they want to send me one but I don''t think that is going to fix the economic mess we''ve gotten ourselves into.

I just hope that you folks remember this come November...Republicans don''t deserve any regular working American''s, or Veteran''s, or elder''s vote. But then, I''m sure that 32% of all voters will still vote for them because they value their bigoted, non-inclusionary, knuckle-dragging, inbred values...what idiots!

ROTFLMAO

Of course the Democrats and their buddies in the news media will bad-mouth Republicans. However, the GOP is right - this has gone out of control. The Democrats have been throwing money at problems forever, and that has never fixed anything. I''m surprised the Republicans have allowed this farce to go this far.

How can these idiot Republicans deny DISABLED VETERANS anything! (Of course, most of them, including Bush, Chaney and their whole cabel have NEVER been to war!) Go off to war, get wounded and then get dumped should be the poster for recruiting - truth in advertising! Republican = shameless!

Again the GOP shoots itself in the foot for the coming election. First Bush blocks an increase in funding for children''s health care and now the GOP Senators block funding for the poor, elderly and disabled. Don''t they realize that this makes them look like the favor the rich heartless bas*tards that they are? One would think they''d at least try to hide the truth from the voters like they usually do, but for some reason they seem to be determined to assume the role of Ebenezer Scrooge before his enlightenment.

Why cant these idiots just pass the legislation instead of trying to recalculate and add more?

Can someone please explain how Obama, Hillary, McCain or anyone else is going to change this?

The only way is to VOTE OUT ALL of these egotistical crooks and start fresh !!!
Posted by dowjones20k

They should be able to craft the bill together, that is their job, NOT rubber stamping a bill that some lobby wrote that they never read which is true of most legislation.

Maybe if the legislators wrote the legislation, the people WOULD be represented..

I agree though, get rid of em all by any means since our elections are rigged in their favor as long as they do the jewish central bankers bidding for Israel.
