It''s not just semantics. It''s not possible for a person to be illegal, so calling them illegal is offensive, insulting and wrong. It''s like when people used to refer to children born our of wedlock as illegitimate. It''s not possible for a child to be illegitimate. A person can not be an illegal person.

Actually it''s undocumented workers. It''s not possible for a person to be legal or illegal. In fact I don''t know a single place in the whole world where it''s illegal to be a person.

How many of you noticed that Mayor Chad is a real estate agent? He''s upset because their riverfront development has been ruined and he will not make the commissions he was drooling over for condo sales. Let the workers come but give them greencards as they cross the border...legally. Anyone hiring an illegal should be fined harshly and repeat offenders closed permanently. Amnesty, but with a real path to citizenship. All undocumented workers that are here should have to pass a criminal background check, learn conversational English, wait 5 years on a green card and then take the citizenship test and become full-fledged citizens.
