If your child is not under control, then don''''t take him out in public. Hire a babysitter. This is your child, not mine, and I don''''t want to listen to him/her while I am paying for a $20 entree.

First they came for my fat neighbor and I said nothing;

Then they came for my fat dog and I said nothing;

Then they came for my fat cat and I said nothing;

Then they came for my fat azz and then I said, "Hey, I''m not that fat"

Having driven across Mississippi, I was shocked at what the restaurants were passing off as food. Rep Read should make the greasy crud being served statewide illegal...

I don''t demand children to BE adults as they are not. I do want parents to be parents. They just stand there allowing little John/Jane to act out and think it is cute. Parents raise their kids the same as they were raised. They will do anything so stop a whinning child.
I will tell yr the problem..the good healthy food is priced sky high. Miss will lose money. The nanny gov.

"The screaming out of control children comment is like saying that you have zero tolerance for children. Most of the people who say this have never been actively involved in raising children, or never really wanted to in the first place. Before I had children, I was sometimes (not always) critical of parents whose children were having a problem. After I had children of my own and participated in raising them, I realized that there are certain times when children cannot be expected to behave as adults. Now, when I see screaming out of control children, I just think of things that I could possibly do to help. By the way, my children are very well behaved in airports, airplanes, malls, restaurants, etc., and I don''''t use corporal punishment or cold medicines that make them sleepy. It''''s because they''''re not stupid and I taught them to behave. And, they''''re not fat either."

I do not have zero tolerance for children; however, I do have zero tolerance for screaming, out of control children. I raised 2 children and 6 step-children. I can tell you that without violence or drugs, not one of those children ever acted out in public. If your child is not under control, then don''t take him out in public. Hire a babysitter. This is your child, not mine, and I don''t want to listen to him/her while I am paying for a $20 entree.

this is over the line. ladies, get your headscarfs and burka''s out and gentlemen - time to grow those bears, because with laws like this we''re on a very slippery slope. Education is the key,not legislation. this country is about personal choice, not dictated morality. Read "The giver," if you haven''t already, and decide if you want to live in that world. Anyone remember "1984." think about it.

Whether you are 100 or 400 lbs, we are all still people who have rights afforded to us by the Constitution. And these people are lawmakers? Scares the bejesus out of me to think this is what they are doing on the taxpayers time.

Could you pass the ketchup?

I understand John Read''s intentions, but this is an example of lawmakers tying up the system that the taxpayers are funding, with frivolous and self-serving actions.

The obese and smokers are being unfairly targeted with junk economics.

And - you have to ask yourself - who and what is next? Banning children carrying a bad gene from prom nights?

Instead of drawing attention to a health problem in Miss. I think Rep. Read just drew attention to an intelligence problem pointing at him. While he''s at it why not require that everyone eating in a resteruant be attractive and of course no dissabeled people should even be allowed inside or outside so all the thin people could dine in peace. pjo/sc

Any entrepreneurs out there? If there were a fast-food restaurant that was quick, convenient, and relatively inexpensive AND served nothing but healthy meals in appropriate proportions, I would eat there nearly daily. Why are all of my options junk food? I pack my own health lunch daily, but when I work late and get hungry for supper, I have no good options.

I think it is very presumpious of any government official to try and pass a law that tells me were and/or what I can eat. I have health insurance and I pay taxes, and I live in the United States of America. It seems that the government overall is slowly taking away the rights of tax paying citizen of this country. Freedom of Speech is only allowed if you don''t offend someone group and/or individual that has enough political power behind them.
The government should not and does not have the right to tell me where and what I can eat. Beside is the Senator going to try and dictate what someone buys at the grocery to store next.
