So what happens if I set up a checkpoint too? Does everyone get this magical privilege? If not, then I suppose these border guard must have some pretty special DNA that they can use violence whereas others cannot.

It is too funny for words! A checkpoint consisting of Americans to defend us from other Americans entering the country without their RFID tag. And these guys are supposed to be on OUR SIDE?

Who needs an ID to cross the border ???

Only 150 miles of fence is built, the virtual security is just that totally virtural & the agencies on the border are undermanned & under supported.

"Instead, those 19 and older will have to show proof of citizenship - a passport, trusted traveler card or a birth certificate and government-issued ID such as a driver''s license."

This is NEW???

When crossing into the U.S. and back into Canada, we have always had to show our birth certificates and for a number of years now we have had to show both birth certificates and drivers licenses.

Boy I guess you Americans are feeling so much safer now! I can''t imagine how fearful you must have been before the new rules, which went into effect for your safety, wow! Further, I guess this is a strong message to the "terrorists" not to attempt to enter the U.S. to commit their evil deeds. And if you need a card, it''s only $45 and $35 for kids, what a deal! Reality check might be in order? The truth will set you free!

There''s a centuries old saying that says, " Strong fences make good neighbors. Your paranoia is unfounded.

I''m reminded of the movie, "Treasure of the Sierra Madra" when the bandits are confronted, they say; "We don''t need no stinking badges!" I say , we don''t need any stinking passports. The same with Canada. We have had a peaceful border for over 100 years, not since the War of 1812. Give this idea a rest.

Denial on this matter is easy to predict. If you believe pointing a gun and telling people who can go where is morally acceptable, then I suggest you get off your butts and go out and patrol your streets. Threatening American citizens with violence for merely coming and going as they please without the godammed permissions of GWB is simple as unAmerican as you can get.
