- This is nothing new, nor wrong. History is filled with the common stories of wounded soldiers returned to their combat units & those who "escaped" medical treatment to return to their units on their own. Like the extended "tours" in combat, substandard equipment (the M4 sherman tank, the XM16, etc..)these things appear odd only to a population with the lowest number of veterans in our nation''''s history.

I can''t speak for WW II, that was my fathers war, but as a Combat Vet of Vietnam, I can say if you were taken out of country for a Combat Injury of Illness you DID NOT return until such time as you were released for Active Duty. The reason being that, since you were out of country, you should be totally well before returning. I guess the desperation of Sir Lies-A-Lot to keep his pathetic little war going over rules common sense. What am I saying... The Little Nazi doesn''t even know how to SAY the words Common Sense!!
