- Look, I''m as much of a skeptic as anybody, but the USAF explanation doesn''t even remotely resemble what the people saw:
"Lewis said the object may have been an illusion caused by two commercial airplanes. Lights from the aircraft would seem unusually bright and may appear orange due to the setting sun." - Reply to this comment
- thgdriver, the time issue assumes that a (hypothetical) race visiting us doesn''t have some form of FTL, space-folding, traversable wormholes (Einstein-Rosen Bridge), or other technology we haven''t even dreamed of yet. I would offer that if they did not have the capability of such travel, they would not even know we exist, let alone be interested in making contact.

- it was probably the Rapture ship doing a dry run before the real thing

- Astronomers have calculated how far some stars, such as our own sun and solar system are from us that could have life as ours. They are Thousand of light years away. That means a spaceship traveling at 286,000 miles a second for thousands of years just to get here. Then, when it arrives it hides, never lands where folks can see or walk up to it, it is never photoed on the ground. Then, on top of all those impossibilities/improbabilities our government covers it up since 1947. Right, let me know when pigs can fly. ETC. ETC.

- The rigid, inflexible, conservatives always fight for these little points like their life depended on it - but when you look back, people always wonder why (and the new generation of inflexible conservatives thinks it was never that big of a deal - but clings to their own little points that must be true).

Another philosopher who has her head up her arse. It is Bush''s fault if it is a bad thing and Hillary''s if a good thing mentality. - Reply to this comment

- Once upon a time, it was inconsistient with religion to believe the Earth went around the Sun. Oops - that was proven to be true. And whaddya know - religion continued.

- longdogg2; to some people, they are. Biblical literalists like singinrick cannot reconcile any type of extraterrestrial life with their beliefs. I''m sure there are other religions that would be impacted as well. If one of your religion''s basic tenants is that Earth and mankind are unique creations and then an alien shows up, your religion has just been invalidated. This is not true of all religions, but it is true of some (at least certain interpretations of them).

- We are still living in primitive times. As we''re traveling around in our spaceships 1000 years from now, we''ll look back at our current species and compare our intelligence and judgments to neanderthals. Then we''ll wonder why in the world would we utilize and fight wars over something so inefficient as fossil fuels.

- Just b/c ET might exist, doesn''t mean God doesn''t. Only non believers think they are mutually exclusive.

- I would be more likely to believe that is is some top secret military item. But I am not such an ostrich w/head in sand, that there is far more superior intelligence than we mere mortals. Just look at our Gov''t..int a far stretch to beleive there is far more out there. It can not be known for sure, no matter how smart, and technology savvy we THINK we are, that there wouldnt be some other galaxy that are light years ahead of us. But for now, I am sticking with my Bin Laden on the flying rug idea.

- I have wondered whether George Bush might actually be an alien. After all, he constantly makes verbal gaffes that no real human being would do. He displays a thought process that doesn''t seem rational to **** sapiens. And he seems intent on creating global chaos that would be a perfect scenario for aliens invading and conquering the earth.
Yes, you gotta wonder whether he might be "not of this world." - Reply to this comment
- If you read accounts of UFO crashes, witnesses uniformly say that the space ships had no seams, bolts, etc. and the material is a single piece. They also describe aliens in suits with not zippers, belts, buttons, etc.
If you think about it, this seems very strange. To me the lack of detail indicates a fabricated story. While it is possible that machinery and clothing could be made with no detail, it is unlikely that it would be. We have pockets and zippers for utility reasons. Machinery has detail for functional reasons.
The other interesting problem is that witnesses describe extraterrestrial technology as projected extensions of our current technology. Lack of detail is one way to mask lack of imagination, but what imaginative detail is given becomes laughable as real technology has developed and old accounts of UFOs diverge from advancing science and technology.
The biggest argument against true extraterrestrial visitations is that they become obsolete with the passage of time. The details are peculiar to the decade they were reported. - Reply to this comment

The superior one has spoken. Thank you for your valuable insight. I had no idea...
Oh, what is krap to one is treasure to another. It''s a nice break to read about UFOs instead of useless wars, corrupt politicians, and violent murders that is usually in our news. - Reply to this comment
- How can some of you think that something technologically so advanced cannot evade our camera technology.

- Tick, Tick
Fellow citizens, the truth is that our present can only be as stable as our future.
For too long we have hobbled from decade to decade, generation to generation, and millennium to millennium, myopically adhering to superfluous battles that can never be won. Never once as a species forwarding or embracing an all encompassing path towards a certainly better future.
Our excuses have been many, our reasoning mostly incoherent, and our lack of vision as a species, certainly fatal.
For in the meantime, as each tick of the ages has passed, the critical threats posed and ignored by our species discordance have increased exponentially.
Pandemic famine and disease, massively destructive weapons, fatal atmospheric and climate change, super volcanic eruptions, catastrophic space body impacts, Orwellian societies of unparalleled oppression, and many other global catastrophes too numerous to list here, waiting to befall us at any moment.
In fact, one of the most immediate and ominous threats facing America and much of the world today is the utilization of advanced technologies for the implementation of authoritarian control over societies.
My friends, the truth is that if we do not fight for and secure freedom today, the time will very soon come when it will be almost impossible to do so.
In retrospect, when one soberly considers the critical challenges that we must face together to survive as a species, our differences, at times, can become almost imperceptible. - Reply to this comment
- Fellow patriots, what these citizens observed was in all likelihood an advanced US weapons system.
As I warn in A Future of the Brave, we are currently developing weapons system, including systems for the mass control of societies, that have previously existed only in the realm of science fiction.
I hope you will stop and consider the words of the scientists and engineers who are now warning of upcoming Orwellian societies with technologies so advanced that for the first time in human history we may not be able to escape them.
I will post a relevant excerpt from AFTOB after this.
