- For far less than a rape charge, suspects are kept away from their alleged victims. This guy had not been charged. Why? Anybody''s guess. But the girl was almost nine months pregnant. Why it had taken such a long time to bring up charges? Why did the police --civil or military-- did not make sure that the girl had some protection? After the facts concoted explanations will be brought up by the officers in charge of the matter, but it is going to be hard to sell them. I won''t buy any of them. Two lives lost, a family in pain just because of official negligence. Mayby wanton negligence!!!

- Boy, oh boy do I have a lot of questions. How did she get in his home in the first place? Did he abduct her or did she go herself, and why? How could his wife not know something was up if she is living in that house. With that amount of blood having to be cleaned up, how could she not know? Plus, he burned the body in his backyard? And she didn''t know this? Weird.

I believe Cesar Armando Laurean is an Italian-American. - Reply to this comment
- My recollection was hazy.
MacDobnald was not tried by the military. The Army held an Article 32 hearing that concluded there was not enough evidence to convict him.
Later under heavy pressure from the parents of the pregnant wife he murdered (along with his two daughters), the Justice Department reopened the case.
The details are here:

I think so. There was a somewhat similar case involving the Green Beret doctor Jeffrey MacDonald that became the famous book/movie "Fatal Vision" some years ago.
I believe he was tried by the military originally. Later the civilian courts tried him again.
I"ll do some checking.

- "Laurean will be on Death Row someplace out east"
IF he"s convicted and IF the judge sentences him to death.
Lets not be too hasty. He still has the technical presumption of innocence. - Reply to this comment

What was I thinking ?
Scott Peterson is on Death Row in San Quentin.
Laurean will be on Death Row someplace out east.
In both cases, their deaths will come as something of a shock. - Reply to this comment
- "Laurean, whom Lauterbach accused of rape, disappeared early Friday morning. He was last seen in a black Dodge pickup."
Why would an "innocent man" do that ?
The same "innocent man" who tried to wash the blood away.
I think Scott Peterson is about to get a companion for life. - Reply to this comment

- "Even though Laurean was accused, the military had not taken him into custody.
He was not deemed to be a flight risk."
Guess he wasn''t considered a potential murderer either. - Reply to this comment
- War, especially unjustified gruesome conflicts that have nothing to do with directly defending ones nation attracts perverse sociopaths. It trains and desensitized these sick creatures and turns them into the most monstrous killing machines. When death and carnage is practiced and witnessed repeatedly, the taking of human life becomes a non-issue but rather a means to an end.

- "I just wish women would stay OUT of the military where they do NOT belong and that INCLUDES all branches. Women have never belonged there and never will."

History proves you wrong. The Israeli military actually drafts women, and they have the best military track record in the Middle East.
If men are raping and attacking women in the military, it would be more logical to exclude men from military service. That would be dumb too, but more logical than excluding women.
The obvious solution is to impose stricter training and controls to put a stop to this.
But unless you want to segregate males and females throughout society, not just the military, you"ll never eliminate it completely.
Women will never allow men to turn the clock back to the 1950s. That is an idle fantasy. It isn"t going to happen. - Reply to this comment
- "Before fleeing Jacksonville early Friday, Brown said, Laurean left a note that said Lauterbach had "come to his residence and cut her (own) throat."
And then crawled over to the fire pit and buried herself, after first trying to wash away the blood ?
Laurean is the one who cut his own throat. - Reply to this comment
