And mind you that the Red Cross gave billions of dollars to Katrina victims. Some of the victims got greedy and capitalized on the fact that they could claim 3 and 4 times the same disaster, and collect. Severl Katrina victims that I knew here got free rent, and 800 a month to boot. They didn''t TRY to rebuild a life here. They partied it all away, and ended up getting evicted. One of the neighbors I used to live above was so bad, that he had spent his money on his friends, created a ruccuss...and the police was called several times on him. He didn''t pay the rent, and got evicted. The next thing I know, people he partied with broke into the apartment and took what little else he had left.

The conservatives want them to stay so they can make money off of the desperately poor that live there.

They put it there, they let it go to *** and they visit it on election day to "get out the vote" and that is about it.

And, Rosie O''Donnel. I don''t like the fact that she is openly gay. I don''t like her bloated opinions. But, one thing I like about her: She had a lifelong purpose for becoming rich. And it was to do things like revitalize those trailer homes, build parks, provide education, and job counseling to aid them in getting out of there. Oprah Winfrey along with a football player (I forgot the man''s name) came together and invested hundreds of millions of dollars to rebuilding entire cities along the southern coast of the US, from Texas to Florida in the same way.

Yeah new buildings in about FIVE years maybe, and at ten times the rent- basically converting low income housing into LUXURY condos and THAT is why they are upset.
NO ONE builds $25,000-$50,000 single dwellings of 1,000 sq ft- that''s what you pay for OLD "fit it" houses of that size- you couldn''t build new houses larger than a shack for that price, that''s why when the old houses go so goes the low income housing cause it''s not coming back.

I can say that I don''t like alot of things about the United States. But, I do know one thing, that even though there are so many problems here (and everywhere), I feel blessed to be living here. I''ve had my ups and downs, and the downs have taught me that the United States is the best place to experience BOTH. In other countries, if you''re down, you''re down for the count.

From the fascist, communist, and socialist points of views I''ve seen on this from both black AND white (and I can''t tell the difference unless you tattle), that you need to go to Sudan, be one of those Sudanese Christians that are being captured and enslaved while the parents are being slaughtered like Buffalo on the range and left to die without a proper burial.

I worked years ago. My hands did bleed from it. Before yer were born/small kids. Sure this is a rich VS. the poor. I am poor. Years ago jobs stayed in America. Today they are shipped over seas. Congratulations, New Orleans!
This unanimous vote is the shows the first sign of hope for the city... since well before Katrina.
The only certain losers will be the drug dealers and free-loaders. However, the folks that will need the most help are the ones who lived in those blighted projects and never learned the value of hard work. Hopefully with their new, employed neighbors, they will see a way up and out.
