Committee Leaders Say Congress Wasn’t Kept Informed About Destroyed Interrogation Tapes
- afmca, you like to compare waterboarding with the torture techniques used by our enemies. Let''s take a look at the documented techniques of the radicals first.
1)elctric shock to various body parts including genitals
2)removal of digits and appendiges using mechanical "side cutters"
3)protable drills, no further explanation needed
4)kidnapping followed by ransom followed by televised beheading
5)Death squads, some of Sadam''s would perform there executions in busy public locations to probduce the most fear
6)purposeful targeting of innocent civilans
7)genocide
8)hand victims form bridges, burn bodies, drag the bodies through the community
9)no geneva convention recognition
This is the nature of the enemy called radical Islam, please explain how tough interogation techniques like waterboarding will make the attrocities commited by the enemy worse? - Reply to this comment
- afmca - I appreciate your concern about these techniques being used on our troops. If I thought there would be the slightest chance that quid pro quo would be followed by our enemy, I would be inclined to agree with you.
However, our enemy has proven time and again, they simply do not care to play by the rules of war. Furthermore, right from the start, the day they few into the twin towers, the day they sawed off heads of civilians trying to help other civilians, the day they killed reporters intentionally, the day they exploded bombs in crowded markets; they have proven they are going to be acting anyway they choose, irrespective of our humane treatment.
There is something to be said for treating SUSPECTED terrorists with humane tactics, but as for the KNOWN terrorists - they have chosen their life-style, let them live it. - Reply to this comment
- The one question every American needs to ask themselves is - if we allow our interrogators to torture does that mean we condone the same actions by our enemies? If we waterboard; can alQaeda waterboard a captured marine? If we sexual degrade a prisoner; can our enemies then do the same to the women soldiers they capture? Once you start to defend and utilize torture, you no longer have any moral basis to stop others from doing it to you.

Your logic is as flawless as your knowledge base, mrconservatv...
The surge folks weren''t deployed to the southern regions - this is where the bombs went off.
This means you were wrong again, but that doesn''t surprise anyone - ''cept you of course. - Reply to this comment
- mrconservatv - what the Hell has Hitler or Stalin got to do with it ?
News flash, mrconservatv - they also breathed air. Does that mean you''d stop breathing air too, to distance yourself from them ?
I frankly don''t give a rat''s patoot about using non-lethal techniques that have no lasting effects to get information from known terrorists; anymore than I would shooting a bear attacking me for being in the same woods. To me the ends justify the means if I"m getting information from a KNOWN terrorist.
You can say I''m evil if you wish - but ain''t it amazing that al qaeda folks that are treated to this way of granting revelations suddenly have a call from Allah to fess up. And before your miniscule thought processes even parrot the far left on repeating the statement - they would confess to anything; consider this technique is EXACTLY how we found the architect for 9/11.
But, if you ARE going to call me evil, maybe we should consider YOUR motives... You wouldn''t be a al qaeda sympathizer would you ? - Reply to this comment

- Hayden told reporters afterwards that he had "a chance to lay out the narrative, the history of why the tapes were destroyed" and the process that led to that decision. But since the taping was done under one of his predecessors, George Tenet, and were destroyed under another, Porter Goss, he wasn''t able to completely answer all questions, he said.
