yeah, thanks
its just that some reason needs to be injected here.
you cant dictate a policy of torture based on an unlikely hypothetical. the cia is full of professionals,
and torturing someone is a serious issue, EVEN IF THAT SOMEONE IS A TERROIST.
a policy of torture is wrong, completely and totally. but that doesn''t mean its not a viable tactic in certain extreme situations. and i think a choice between jail or thousands of lives would be appropriate in the event that torture becomes a consideration. AS LONG AS THERE IS AN UNDERSTANDING THAT IT IS ILLEGAL, BUT WILL BE REVIEWED AND POSSIBLY PARONED BY THE PRESIDENT. it would just put accountability into the situation, and that seems reasonable.

dontb1,,,, You''re right, the CIA shouldn''t be in the light of day ---- Too bad Bush didn''t think of that before he created the problem,,, How long do you think he could have kept torture a secret ???

nggr, If I understand your point correct, I agree.

There is a reason for the CIA and it is not supposed to be in the light of the day just like Mossad, MI-6 and etc.

the world can be a harsh place, with horrible people.
nothing can be set in stone EXCEPT for how we as a nation conduct ourselves an our business. Allowing for a policy that clearly violates our agreement with the geneva conventions hurts our reputaion and decreases our sympathies around the world. the sympathies of other nations are important because it ensures that our fight is truly against the terrorists and does not spread to conflicts outside of that. make no mistake, waterboarding IS a form of torture. if th rack is torture then waterboarding has to be. and as much as some people deserve it, it in no way should be a policy of the united states of america. saving lives is a good thing, and i can see the argument for the tactic, my only point is that we should not endorse it, its bad business and WILL come back to haunt us.
if a cia agent decides that torture should be used then he has to make a decision between his country and his personal freedom. with the understanding that a sympathetic president has the power to pardon his action.

Bush is playing this Democratic Congress like a drum.

They search and search and hold investigations and nothing happens and no bills get passed.

You would think they would catch on and get some stuff done before their term is up and the Republicans say "nothing was done".

poopusbuttus,,,,, It''''s good having a conversation with you without the back & forth bantering, thanks..
.. Yes, I agree. But I still see even more resons now to have those video''''s, just so we could put to rest, it''''s hurt our country. Now that it''''s in the open, we have the need to know if that intell gleamed was any good.
.. We need answers, laws have been broken, both legal & moral

Hey, I''ve got no problem with that. I dont think they should have destroyed the tapes either.

When the fact come out though, and if indeed it was "Waterboarding" as the reason why they were destroyed, then, I have no problem with it.

But, we will never know, will we....
