I don''t agree with your perceptions however, I don''t accuse you of not trying to make sense. I would wager a bet that all posting here thinks he or she is making sense. And , unless you can prove no God, don''t knock those of us that do. And, you can believe in Evolution and God. Finally, no one has proved we evolved from apes. "Science" has been wrong. - Reply to this comment
- I know that these occurances are considered newsworthy, but why does the news media give exposure to the people who perpetrate these kinds of crimes? All they accomplish is to inspire other nuts and misfits to do the same thing. It''s no accident that in the personal effects these people leave behind there is very often some kind of reference to Columbine or some other mass killing. These people want to become famous, or infamous, and the media is giving them their wish.

- It''s too bad nobody was there with a gun to pick off this toilet bowl scumbag before he killed everyone.

- What''s most shocking is that this ever-increasing violence in our country has not been addressed directly by our government, or the crop of would-be presidents. How can the US government promote itself as embassadors of democracy and world peace when alost every month, some bipolar, depressed, or poorly-socialized guy blows innocent people away for no reason other than he''s unhappy? How incredibly selfish is this, and where do they get the idea that others should pay for their own misery?
I''m not a religious person, but the values that our culture promotes, and the lack of teaching kids morals, and a sense of ethics, is what''s causing this mass carnage. People need to stop making violent movies with no intellectual or ethical content, stop expecting that they deserve to be "rich" without working hard, and start treating people with respect and dignity. Also, we need to start realizing that mental health and mental health services need to be taken more seriously, and preventative mesures taken when a person seems destructive. And I''m not talking about packing a gun, either. This country needs to WAKE UP. - Reply to this comment

So you''re saying if we got rid of all the guns tomorrow we would be safe. All problems would cease to exist? No personal accountability? And as for God, He created us in his image. He also gave us free will. Humans control this world, not God. - Reply to this comment
- Come on people - think about it - GUNS don''t kill people, PEOPLE kill people. Taking away the guns doesn''t solve the problem. He would have found some other way to be "famous". If you want to fix something - find a way to help these people BEFORE they get to the point of killing other people. Do you have a solution for that?

- There''s a one word explanation for the District of Columbia - and that word is VIRGINIA, that red state just across the river, where guns are plentiful and easy to come by. Keeping guns out of DC is like keeping Mexicans out of Texas. You still gotta try. I live here, I know.
Just south of Virginia is North Carolina, where guns are plentiful. Below that is South Carolina, where guns are plentiful. Below that is Georgia, where guns are plentiful. You see the problem, I think. - Reply to this comment
- Don''t talk about God. God didn''t stop this terrible thing from happening, but from what I hear, He/She/It COULD have. Oh I know it''s those "mysterious ways" we can never understand. Maybe Mitt Romney can explain it. Why do people always talk about God when something terrible happens ? Maybe it''s the homos, destroying nuclear families by trying to get married. We''re not accidents, we''re the product of millions of years of - wait for it - EVOLUTION. It''s ape intellect that brought us this far - haven''t you ever watched Orangutan Island ? That''s US. We are animals, for sure. You can trace our DNA right back to a common ape ancestor. Insignificant ? In terms of infinite space - yes. On this planet - no. What''s your freakin'' point ? Most people who post here try to make sense, but nothing you said does.

What is your explaination for the District of Columbia, where they outlawed guns? The murder rate soared there. - Reply to this comment
- Isn''''''''t it cool our gun laws are so weak that any 19 year old kid can buy a semi-automatic assault rifle?
=====
He stole the gun from a relative. A gun law is not going to stop that! He broke a law when he stole it! He broke another one when he took it inside the "gun free zone." - Reply to this comment
- What is a semi automatic assault weapon? And are you telling me if we get rid of them, all the troubles will go along with them?

- Here comes the barrage of "If''''n everyone had a
gun..." posts from the NRA 2nd Amendmenters...
Why is it then, that in 50 years, I''''ve never heard
of one of these spree killings being stopped by
someone who pulls their own weapon and...
Good God, most of them happen in Red States where
the whole bloody population is armed. Not one hero
in the crowd?
Because this mall was a GUN-FREE ZONE where law-abiding citizens, including permit holders, were not allowed to bring in their concealed weapons. The attack occurred where guns are, in fact, banned, and all of the victims were unarmed.
You might want to do your research before you spout off. - Reply to this comment
- It''s McDonalds fault for firing him. They should have been more sensitive and understanding. He was troubled and came from a broken home. On second thought, it was his girlfriends fault for breaking up with him. Didn''t she realize if she loved him enough and stood by him all we be wonderful.

the discussion is simple the Proliferation of the availability of Semi Automatic Assault Weapons will increase the risk of an extremist gaining access to them and terrorizing our communities killing our people. No different than not wanting the proliferation of WMDs just a much smaller scale.
We need to restore law and order to our communities and get rid of these values and their law set of Political puppets representing the fringe.- Reply to this comment

Good point, but, a better question to ask. Why did she let a troubled teen move into her house to live for a year with her impressionable teens full well knowing that he had an alcohol problem and smoked marijuana and brushed it off as typical teenage behaviour? - Reply to this comment
- He showed her an automatic weapon, and she didn''t think anything of it ? HELLO - where did he get it ? Why did he want it ? Where did he get the money to buy it ? Was it loaded ? Why ? Was it for4 hunting ?Had he ever been hunting ? What did he plan to do with it ? Had he ever mentioned suicide ? These are just a few questions I have from this story - but this woman thought nothing of a displaced and troubled kid showing her an automatic rifle ? What he was really doing was giving her one chance to stop him from making a huge, huge mistake, and she let it go. What I don''t understand is why these poor people don''t just kill themselves, no they have to shoot up a bunch of other people first, and then kill themselves. Just do yourself first, folks. You have that right.

- headofcrowd,
I do agree with you, but don''t forget about alcoholism. It was also a main contributor, it seems, for this boy. My family has had problems with both and I am very fortunate that nothing crazy like this has happened to us. - Reply to this comment
