8 Killed, 5 Hurt In Mall Slaying; 19-Year-Old Shooter Kills Self, Left Suicide Letter
- For Khalic: I hear what you are saying, but I still think media coverage would be less and what coverage it did receive would be more toward the negative side instead of this "infamous dark disturbed kid who would have never have done such a thing if it weren''t for society, school bullies etc...
And are any of the gun slinging posters on here going to address the issue of what happens when you pull out your gun in "self defense" and kill the wrong person? What should be your punishment? Maybe there are 5 guys that day who brought guns "for protection" they hear the original gunman''s fire and all pull out their weapons and start firing. who''s to say when their blood starts pumping they aren''t going to shoot the wrong person? Then what?? - Reply to this comment
- This goes for you Realtalk:
I totally disagree with what you gotta say. Firstly, the same measures would be taken and there would be major media involvement was a "kid of minority". Next, I don''t think a "kid of minority" would do such a thing. I know for a factthat I growing up as a "kid of minority" in Canada, even if I would aquire a firearm have the decency, self-respect and good judgement not to do such a thing. It''s only the big bunch, not all, of you sick Americans whom grew up without morals and character and make this world ***. Read if you want your brain to expand.
And you lib:
An intelligent solution to society''s problems is plain and simple religion. Religion and/or spritual belief will cure the world. But once the devil lurks within you, you are deviated and your light will be much harder to find. So that''s why there is so many social problems in America. - Reply to this comment
- What I dont understand is, how did he make it in and all the way to the third floor in camo and holding a gun? I mean how would he hide a rifle? Did no one see that as odd?

- What''s most shocking is that this ever-increasing violence in our country has not been addressed directly by our government, or the crop of would-be presidents. How can the US government promote itself as embassadors of democracy and world peace when alost every month, some bipolar, depressed, or poorly-socialized guy blows innocent people away for no reason other than he''s unhappy? How incredibly selfish is this, and where do they get the idea that others should pay for their own misery?
I''m not a religious person, but the values that our culture promotes, and the lack of teaching kids morals, and a sense of ethics, is what''s causing this mass carnage. People need to stop making violent movies with no intellectual or ethical content, stop expecting that they deserve to be "rich" without working hard, and start treating people with respect and dignity. Also, we need to start realizing that mental health and mental health services need to be taken more seriously, and preventative mesures taken when a person seems destructive. And I''m not talking about packing a gun, either. This country needs to WAKE UP. - Reply to this comment

evolution is championed by athiesm..and as far as I am concerned, atheism is a religion in itself..making evolution as religious as the ''immaculate conception''. and i think injecting evolution THEORY...again a theory...as fact in the mind of our school children is in itself an injection of religion..I dont know where you stand but the recent ''removal'' of books comes from thse bleeding heart liberals who deem anything that is not politically correct or too "offensive"..(but eagerly watch and promote TOILET HUMOR liberal shows to our children like south park..etc. etc)
how about try not to force se*x education on young children and replace it with education towards responsiblity and accountability..ITS LIKE THAT LIBERAL MENTALITY..THAT WE CAN SOLVE THE EFFECTS OF A DRUG PROBLEM by LEGALIZING DRUGS..SOLVING HOMELESSNESS BY GIVING HOMES..you solutions are very shallow and very immediate. - Reply to this comment
- I just have two things to say: To all those who are saying everyone should be carrying a gun and we would all be safer because we could "shoot back" I say this:
What happens if you hit someone else and they die from their wounds? Are you prepared to not only know that you just killed someone innocent, but are you also willing to go to prison for say 15 to 20 years for manslaughter?
And also on a different subject, I''d like to say that it''s funny how if this were a kid of minority background there would not be any of this discussion about blame gun laws, blame society, blame the media, this poor troubled youth and his cry for attention and all this other stuff. The killer would be dismissed as just another "gang banger" minority and it probably would get any attention on television as well. - Reply to this comment

- USBrit,
While I agree with you about science, there is nothing negative about good citizens having the ability to protect themselves from dangerous criminals. - Reply to this comment

- Gunownerdan, please get off the soapbox - you''re worse than a negative political ad. Same sh*it, different quote. We all know where you stand on this subject - believe me. In the future please limit your gun control comments to "posted by gunownerdan." We can fill in the blanks, strange quotes and all.
AverJane - evolution is not a religion, it is a scientific theory rigorously researched by thousands of minds a whole lot more intelligent than yours. It''s people like you who a removing truth from schools with lies about creationism, banning of books, refusing to teach *** education etc. etc. No child should be MADE to go to church. Right and wrong don''t stem from Adam and Eve - it should be common sense. - Reply to this comment
- ***.. What a shame really. The Western world is so cold and empty. Pick up the Quran instead of a gun. Y''all American folks need spirtiual healing. You are pigs, your lives revolve around drugs, ***, gambling and violence. And then you go around calling us Muslims terrorists hahaha!! Who do you think is the real terrorist who brought illness such as AIDS to Africa, Asia and Latin America. You ignorant Americans can believe anything you hear from the media which is corrupting your brain. No, a man didn''t f*ck a monkey to get AIDS and if it''s true it was a redneck who ****ed a red pig. CIA is the most corrupt agency and the UN are a b*tch counsel being raped by America. Who went to war with Vietnam for only their opium along with Afghanistan and then now Iraq for their f*ckin oil?? Why is there a 50 billion dollar reconstruction plan for Iraq while the majority of Americans who need this support live below the poverty line?? Yes, Africa may be poor but the crime rate is much lower because people are lively and happy and not empty and cold. Sick bastadz calling us Muslim''s terrorists. We only believe in goodness. So pick up the Quran y''all!

- Is there any way to shut down this publicity barrage and lose this loser? Aren''t we just opening up a larger can of worms for every other misfit to crawl out of? Let''s have just human interest stories about the victims - without pictures of the gunman.

- Every year they do this at the holidays at malls. They put cameras ups thinking it will cut crime. It don''t stop it. Sure the person knew he/she get their 15 min. fame and then some. We oaught stop putting them on the news. Yer think chruch is the answer, I was not raised in it. That is problem ridden as well.

- whatithink,
very well said. But, alas, there are few persons on this board who think that way. It must be killin them to know that this was not a black gang banger or minority street kid. We all know good and well that the comments would be of a different tone and the blame would have been placed squarely on his shoulders and that of his "welfare momma" at home, instead of what we are seeing now, like blame the gun laws, blame the school, blame society, blame everybody except him. - Reply to this comment
- No amount of gun control laws or gun bans are going to stop homicidal nutcases from killing people.
What can stop them is an intended victim who is armed and capable of protecting themselves.
If your state has concealed carry and you would like to be responsible for your own safety, then get educated, get trained, and get prepared.
It takes only seconds for a criminal to murder innocent people, but it can take many minutes for the police to arrive and by then the damage will be done.

"Laws that forbid the carrying of arms . . . disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes . . . Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants; they serve rather to encourage than to prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man."

There are a lot of things to blame because there are a lot of things wrong with society; take your pick. As far as blaming stuff on schools, they teach only what we have allowed. As far as your statment about science not being taught anymore, maybe it shouldn''t. Because what they turned it around to be is a sort of religion now. It teaches evolution which is a faith but they won''t give other religions the same respect. Call it a theory if you don''t really believe it but give children a choice in the matter. I don''t believe in evolution so to me it is no threat just a theory. If ever proven otherwise, then it would be cause for my serious examination. With regards to religion, Christianity to be specific, at least many of the prophecies have been fulfilled. The main one is that for which we celebrate Christmas, yes, Christmas. Not the Holidays. I choose to believe that the ills of society stem from the removal of truth from schools. We teach lies based on lies. We have allowed the schools to un-do what some parents work hard to do at home, teach right and wrong. Many parents are to blame as well. They never made their children learn the truth because they couldn''t wait to get away from it when they grew up. Hell bent on not making their kids learn where right and wrong stem from. They won''t make their kids go to church, why? We make them go to school! - Reply to this comment
