Police Say 20-Year-Old Gunman Killed 8 People, Wounded 5 Others, Before Killing Himself
- After sleeping and reading the news I see the mall went from bad to horrific. At first the news thought there were two now it%u2019s 8 and that does not count the wounded. A few select comments as I read the posts. First many people do care that is why this grew to 66 pages. People are frustrated because there is no solution yet. You can make owning a weapon illegal but that wont stop the 100,000 a day that come in from out of our borders. Ye he is famous now as they pick up chunks of his skull off the floor. Overall this has been a very rational forum over an ever increasing problem. I believe in Karma. And be careful what you say about BUSH. Like him or not he does hold the highest job in the land and will have protection for his entire life including his wife and children the same as other presidents. Not my idea of a good time a bunch following me around all the time. Some day a poster perhaps his first post will come up with a real good idea how to deal with all of this. I will await that persons post. Lew

- This kind of insane disasters will not stop until ban the gun. If we could not ban the gun, could we ban the bullets or add chemical to the gun powder to limit its power or time? I believed that a non-military person does not need a rifle gun power. It is all money, business and politic matters on how to ban them. In addition, the bloody TV games, it is very easily to implant a wrong image to kids - open gun fire to kill is just like a game! Sad to say, they are easy to addict into the "game".

- a question for gun owners:
What is, after all, so effing great about owning guns??? What''''s the attraction?
It baffles me. You don''''t need them.

To protect from *** like this. Maybe, if someone had had a gun, they could have saved a few of the lives of others caught up in this tragic thing. My heart goes out to those lost and their family. - Reply to this comment
- Well, the news media is giving him what he wanted, to be famous. Let''s post him all over the country and exploit those who lost their lives because he was unstable. That is sad.

- "now I''''ll be famous"
Didn%u2019t GWbush say that in his first inaugural address?
Hmmmm? There%u2019s a lot of similarity here:
The kid lost his girlfriend. GWbush lost his war%u2026
The kid lost his job. GWbush lost the respect of the nation and the world.
The kid got thrown out of his house. GWbush is FINNALY leaving office.
The kid needed help. GWbush needs HELP!!!!
My advice%u2026keep GWbush away from any Mall%u2026 - Reply to this comment
- gunownerdan,
I see your world of everyone walking around packing. When that time comes and you sneeze on someone incorrectly and get shot for it, you will be singing a different tune. What scares me more than this guy is a paranoid person with a shaking trigger finger. - Reply to this comment
- It''s simple.
You either take responsibility for your own safety or you depend on the police to protect you and your family from dangerous criminals. When seconds count, the police are only minutes away. - Reply to this comment
- NRA nutcases :
You need to get out more!
Take a trip to France, Canada, China....anywhere! You''ll see that the world doesn''t need guns.
Only NRA nutbars do.
The rest of us live perfectly fine lives......without guns !!!!!
Before you completely destoy America, wake up and smell the *** coffee!! - Reply to this comment
- When a terrorist or other homicidal nutcase decides to murder innocent people at a school or a shopping mall, the only thing that can possibly stop them early is a responsible armed citizen or security guard.
The police will take minutes to arrive once they are called and by then it will be too late.
Your own personal safety is your responsibility, not the government or the police. If your state allows concealed carry, get educated, get trained, and get prepared:

- US gun laws are insane.
Maybe when all the nutbars finish killing each other, those remaining will pass sensible gun laws............

- I love how this story builds up sympathy for the shooter. He was depressed. He loved animals. He was gentle. The media is hilarious! What killer is not depressed? I wonder if our nation will go into a period of reflection about him as they did with the wrestler who killed his family.
Seems so contrary to the reporting on Sean Taylor last week, who was actually a victim. - Reply to this comment

- "Yes, folks I am not kidding. I''''ve have already had the Secret Service at my house for posts a few months ago expressing my rage at US foreign policies. I didn''''t mean I would do anything my self, but apparently they thought I was a potential threat. They have already got a file on me and have done a hard drive forensics test on my computer, photographed my bedroom, and taken my fingerprints. I am not kidding. My anger and frustations still leads me to posting hate speech against the government though. They will never silence me."

You know what, it sounds like for you this is like a counter-culture type way of rebelling against the government, but I think for the rest of us it seems like perhaps there might be more productive ways of channeling your anger and feeling empowered (?)
The fact that the shooter wrote "now I''ll be famous"
scares me to no end! I don''t even begin to know how we can address this kind of social ill, but it makes me feel like there''s going to be a lot more of these shootings. Do you think it would work to have metal detectors at mall entrances? It''d sure make me feel better, that''s for sure . . . - Reply to this comment

- Furthermore, I have already had the Secret Service at my home for other comments reported by paranoid posters. The Secret Service knows I am no threat. When they arrived I merely told them what I thought about the US government''''s terrible foreign policy and how guilty they are.

You have freedom of speech by language threatening the life of an official especially the U.S. President or overthrowing the government will always land someone in hot water! There is a point you can''t go beyond. - Reply to this comment
- Oh please. Like your chances of being shot by some nutjob at the mall are greater than your chances of having your door broken down by the police on a no-knock raid with the wrong address.
