Utah Officials Say Trooper Felt Threatened In Incident Widely Viewed On YouTube Website
- I guess the lesson to learn here is that when an officer repeatedly asks you to put your hands behind your back, you probably should make things easier on yourself and on him by doing it.

this is what a coward would say.
so, in any situation you can think of, a cop threatening violence on you would be allright, just doing his job, nothing to see here. its ALL justified, correct.
run away scaredy cat. little sissy-boy.
this has nothing to do with people thinking they are above the law, this has to do with the law being applied irresponsibly, and the blue wall protecting the criminals that wear badges. - Reply to this comment
- so he can fight it in court, so what, he can argue with the cop too.
again, the cop never neede to tell him to get out of the vehicle. he could have written refused to sign on the ticket and been on his way.
its obvious he was angry at massey for refusing to sign, and wanted to flex his cop muscles.
but believe what you want. i dont care.
yeah, cops have a right to protect themselves, just like we do. but his life was never even close to being in danger, and there were NO signs to the contrary.
wasting your tax dollars, huh. what do you think they are spending to investigate the cops highly irresponsible actions?
not your tax dollars, it money from speeding tickets and other fines. - Reply to this comment
- punks like Massey deserve to be put into their place,

you dont know this guy, niether do i. what we do know is that police have to conduct themselve in a proffesional manner. and the video shows this is not what happened.
My position on this has nothing to do with whether I''''m a coward

yes, yes it does.
you say that people should bend over and be sodomized by law enforcment no matter what the situation. you think that a policmans job doesn''t entail good judgment, empathy, people skill, or anything of the sort. take a look at the video again, the cop is on a power trip, it looks as if he''s intent on tasering the guy from the moment he tells him to step out of the car. the victim is still reffering to him as officer and never vocalizes any hostility to the officer. he makes no attempts on the officers well-being and never once threatens him. the cop puts down his clipboard and immediatly draws his weapon.
to defend his cowardly actions is to be a coward.
you cant assume massey is a crazed lunatic, the cop can, but there is no evidence that he was.
tickets disrupt your life, and its perfectly normal to be upset, even to the point of arguing with the officer about the validity. - Reply to this comment
- did you know that as little as 1/2 an amp can kill a human being?

I guess the lesson to learn here is that when an officer repeatedly asks you to put your hands behind your back, you probably should make things easier on yourself and on him by doing it. I''ve heard that officers really don''t enjoy doing reports on tazer incidents, the rush everyone seems to think they get from tazing a suspect is not worth the time, the effort, the explaining. That''s why they only do it when a suspect is acting irrationally like Massey did in the video. - Reply to this comment
- you are a coward for condoning this behaivior out of our law enforcment.

LOL -- you sound like George Bush talking about the terrorists who flew planes into the World Trade Center. They were a lot of things, but cowards? I don''t think so. You have no credibility. My position on this has nothing to do with whether I''m a coward. I just think punks like Massey deserve to be put into their place, so that they don''t waste more of my tax money while they harrass cops who are just trying to do their jobs. - Reply to this comment
- The only person I saw act unreasonably in the video was Massey. I''''d rather see more tazed idiots and fewer dead officers, that''''s all.

the officer apparently was comfortable enough to completely turn his back on the suspect. for about 5 seconds. the guy was out of the car for all of 6 seconds before the taser was pulled. refusing to sign a ticket must make you REALLY angry. what, people cant have an innocent argument about the hassle their about to be put through with the officer? guy refused to sign ticket, officer tells him to get out of the car, with no warnings, officer TURNS HIS BACK on suspect for 4-5 seconds, officer facing victim all of 2 seconds before taser is drawn. guy turns away so that you can see that the hand touching his pocket is not inside his pocket, and no weapon is evident. guy gets tasered. twice, with wife and 15 month old baby in van.
the officer was completely in the wrong, no question about it, his life was NEVER in any danger, whatsoever.
50000 volts huh.
did you know that as little as 1/2 an amp can kill a human being?
i''m all for police having tasers, but they are using it instead of being police.

Sorry, spanky, you''re wrong again, but nice try. I just believe that when you pit an officer''s right to stay alive against some stupid spoiled republican''s right to have a hissy fit when given a speeding ticket, the officer should win, so long as he is not acting unreasonably. The only person I saw act unreasonably in the video was Massey. I''d rather see more tazed idiots and fewer dead officers, that''s all.
Now, how do I know Massey is a republican? His above the law spoiled mentality. Republicans are the first to demand law and order and the last to comply with it. - Reply to this comment
- protect himself. By all indications, Massey was a nut.

i dont see that in any way shape or form.
its perfectly normal to be upset about a ticket, its perfectly normal to want to tell the cop your side.
the cop told HIM to get out of the car. the cop pulled his taser BEFORE the guy touched his pocket.
its obvious the cop was on a power trip.
Please stop, you''''re turning me on! LOL!

- The reason we are seeing so many stories where the citizenry is being brutalized by the cops is because the government wants you to know that if you do not submit immediately, you will literally feel their wrath.
Remember, the police are charged with carrying out the politicians "laws".

Truly, it would be nice if our government were that organized and effective. I will grant you that the Bush Administration is hell bent on stripping Americans of their Civil Liberties, but a state trooper is just doing his job. He has no thoughts of carrying out some vast right-wing conspiracy; he just wants to return home alive at the end of the day. - Reply to this comment
