Jehovah's Witness, 14, Dies Hours After Judge Upholds His Right To Refuse Medical Treatment
- ridiculous - he should have been forced to have it. i believe in divine healing to the hilt - but sometimes one''s healing comes in the form of skilled doctors and surgeons. what a waste.

- This boy had leukemia, the real death sentence. There is no medical treatment that is a cure for it.
The judge let him die with dignity. He did the right thing.
It''s just a shame that the media will turn this into a feeding frenzy against those of different religious beliefs.
Shame on you, CBS, for joining in. - Reply to this comment
- "I don''t believe Dennis'' decision is the result of any coercion. He is mature and understands the consequences of his decision," the judge said during the hearing. "I don''t think Dennis is trying to commit suicide. This isn''t something Dennis just came upon, and he believes with the transfusion he would be unclean and unworthy."
The only thing I have to say about this is that dispite this young mens age, he has more belief and love in "Jehovah" God then most ministers I have seen on both Television (Cable and normal) and in the pulpit at churches. I researched this and found The Bible mentions not to eat or take any part of blood. This is in both the old and new testament. some may call this act foolish, some will call it insane but is this anymore insane then giving your last dollar to the church collection tray because you are trying to buy a seat in Heaven? Meanwhile, you are about to be evicted/foreclosed on/power turn off? Those who understand the Bible knows that you give from your heart not from your wallet. Those who believe know that if in your heart you give a "penny" that is worth more then giving 1000 dollars that you will regret giving later. - Reply to this comment
- THE MORAL OF THIS STORY IS THAT IT IS SAFER FOR CHILDREN TO BE REARED BY DRUG USERS THAN BY JEHOVAH''S WITNESSES.
With that point made, the DEATH of this CHILD is a SCANDAL. The District Attorney needs to investigate why Children''s Hospital waited until it was too late for blood transfusions to help, instead of requesting an emergency court hearing as soon as it was obvious that transfusions would eventually be necessary. Start with the so-called "Ethicist" at the Hospital.
Summaries of over 225 similiar Jehovah''s Witness Court Cases are found at:

Reviewing these similar cases at this website reveals that typically only Hospitals that agree with the Jehovah''s Witnesses position, and wanting to uphold such, would delay seeking court intervention in such an obvious situation. - Reply to this comment
