Perfect segway.
Evil Knievel dead at 69 years of age 11/30/2007.
What led to his death?
Contracting hepatitis C from a BLOOD TRANSFUSION
which made his liver FAIL!!!
If they had used artificial blood substitute HE WOULD LIKELY BE ALIVE TODAY!!!
BIG PHARMA KILLS AGAIN!!!

Whether it''s imprisoning someone because they named a teddy bear after a religious icon, or whether they allow themselves to die prematurely for lack of medical attention, these religious nuts cause nothing but trouble. Jesus-freaks, islamo-fascists, whatever. Nothing but trouble.

Jehovah''''s Witnesses are not like Christian Scientist and refuse medical attention. In fact, the only medical procedure that they will not allow is blood transfusions....they willingly allow all other kinds of medical treatment.

And more over for those who claim to study the Bible in know it. Did you know In both the old Testament and New there are several verses that states not to partake of blood. Leviticus 7:26; New testament is ACTS 15:20 just to name a few. If the JW are going to accept the Bible they have to accept the whole Bible not the modification most religions make to make us feel good while they are draining our pockets and condemning us to H-E-L-L. Yes, other medical procedures are acceptable. Even doctors are now ways other then transfusion. For example Plasma; and blood parts, which is not whole blood. Now to the atheist, this is either totally unacceptable or the right to die.. I know this may seem cruel to say, but even with a blood transfusion that would have just put him on borrowed time. Plus according to the doctors he may have had brain damage. Chances are he would be in a vegatitive state and suffering. Mayhaps this is the best solution for all concerned rather we like it or not. I have seen someone die from this illness and the blood transfusion just prolonged the severe suffering.

It is PART OF THE EQUATION.
This young man would have a SAVED life if the
BIG FDA would have approved the use of artificial blood years ago. But no people continue to put up with blood rejection ailments and hepatitis because of corrupt BIG PHARMA who promotes and addicts the world to is ,all to often ,damaging pharmaceutical industry . You ,as you state, work in the health industry.
It is in your best interest to be a promoter of BIG PHARMA who pays your fat check. Your ridiculous statement that blood is free is a farce and a lie.
So instead of blaming religious ogrganizations of Jesus Christ or whoever you want to blame LOOK first at GIANT CORPORATE INTERESTS who would rather soak the medical industry puppet with the INDIVIDUAL BLOOD DNA of every human being it gets its hands on.

In response to yongamerica:

When a patient is a Jehovah''s Witness, beyond the matter of choice, conscience comes into the picture. One cannot think only of the physician''s conscience. What of the patient''s? Jehovah''s Witnesses view life as God''s gift represented by blood. They believe the Bible''s command that Christians must "abstain from blood" (Acts 15:28, 29).8 Hence, if a physician paternalistically violated such patients'' deep and long-held religious convictions, the result could be tragic. Pope John Paul II has observed that forcing someone to violate his conscience "is the most painful blow inflicted to human dignity. In a certain sense, it is worse than inflicting physical death, or killing."

While Jehovah''s Witnesses refuse blood for religious reasons, more and more non-Witness patients are choosing to avoid blood because of risks such as AIDS, non-A non-B hepatitis, and immunologic reactions. We may present to them our views as to whether such risks seem minor compared to the benefits. But, as the American Medical Association points out, the patient is "the final arbiter as to whether he will take his chances with the treatment or operation recommended by the doctor or risk living without it. Such is the natural right of the individual, which the law recognizes."

Both the judge and the boys aunt killed this boy. Their insane decision killed him as sure as putting a gun to his head. Leukemia is very curable and manageable for most people these days. The moron that brought up AIDS on this forum is an idiot. Sure, you do have a very small CHANCE to catch a disease from blood. But, blood is highly screened these days. And besides, we all knew if he didn''t get the transfusion he had a 100% chance of dying. Better a 1% chance of HIV than a 100% chance at death, I say. I have no patience or use for ignorant people who have no understanding of medical science, probability, statistics, and odds. None.

kennedy19106 you didn''t even give us a reason why JW doesn''t accept blood transfusions. You just rattled some statistics that are 20-30 years old. Why is another person''s blood spiritually impure? Does this mean the blood of the most holy person in your life is impure because it''s not yours?

In regards to the chances you take with a blood transfusion, the chances of a blood transfusions saving a life is far greater than not having a blood transfusion.

In regards to having to live with "impure blood": Blood in the human body is replaced in about 120 days.
