I don''t know about anyone else but, This is a good rule. Who wants mentally unstable people running around with guns?

How do the citizens of the rest of the world survive without the 260 million plus firearms that we have in circulation here in the USA?

They don''t have the all of the gun stores & gun shows that we do.

Just let them join the army - they''ll train them to use the guns too. The Army will take anyone these days.

The problem is that the majority of the population would be classified as ''mentally ill'' were they to go to a shrink.

Dear Michael,Yes I do hate them. I have just as much right to have my say as any of yer do. Would yer want a legally blind person to have access to a gun knowing full well I can''t see to fire the bloody thing. I don''t think so. As a daughter of a vet. My 72 year old father served nation so I can have my say. I am 53 and in my day had I told my elders to shut up and been as rude as ye. I be told and paddled and put in my place. It is yer fears that yer might lost yer right to have that gun. There are gun control laws. They state who can''t bear arms. Hot heads should be banned from guns.I am not in yer face. John the gun act of 1968. Erasmus6 Amen. Barbara.

"A federal list of mentally ill people barred from buying guns has doubled in size..."

Hmmm, I wonder if MichaelT302 is on the list.

The problem is that there are a million mentally disturbed people they don''t know about.

MichelleM99, you say "I hate guns". In my 40+ years of gun experience that phrase is almost always a cover and a euphemism for "I am ignorant about guns". My gut tells me you''ve never even picked one up or fired one. How do you then even KNOW you hate them? My crazy sister is the same way. She has never touched one and has an irrational fear and hatred of them. Many people are the same way about spiders, sharks, snakes, heights, flying, and more. Listen, us gun owners are not about to let YOUR irrational fears and YOUR ignorance impose upon our rights. Either face your fears and broaden your horizons, or shut the f*uck up and get out of our faces.

This law is clearly not working, as I know dozens of liberals who own guns. We need to really look into how they are getting around this.

It''''s already started. The Government controls the insurance agencies. And the doctors work for the insurance companies.

"More Mentally Ill Barred From Buying Guns". Does this include anyone who voted for Bush?

Shortly after the Virginia Tech shootings, officials said the state had given 81,233 names to the FBI. Michigan had the second-largest submission of names then, with 73,382, the Justice data show.

By comparison, California had submitted only 27 names of mentally ill people to the database as of April 30. Since then, the state has given more than 200,000 names to the list, Justice officials said.

That''s scary. Not only that.

He said Arizona was one of the first to submit mental-health records. He wants the federal government to consider relaxing some privacy laws so colleges would have access to the records. %u201CObviously, privacy has to be considered, but we have some harmful powder kegs out there who are older than 18,%u201D Goddard said.

What constitutes mental illness? And who determines it? For the people out there that would prefer all guns be banned I''m sure you don''t care. For those of you that don''t want the long arm of the Federal Government infringing on your rights, you should be very frightened. They will do away with patient doctor confidentiality. And once medicine is socialized, the doctors will be in the pockets of the Government. They will be on their payroll. This country better wake up.

It''s already started. The Government controls the insurance agencies. And the doctors work for the insurance companies.

OK, MichelleM99, who and how will the "mentally ill" be defined? Draw the line between rabid PMS and Hannibal Lecter.

The mentally ill have no business having guns. How will they keep guns out of the paws must not bear them. That need to be addressed. They can do the checks and bar them. If they want a gun they will and how will handle that. I hate guns.

Perhaps this explains why Cheney is a psycho/sociopath...Anytime a filter recognizes your first name "D*I*C*K* (aka Richard) as obscene that has to warp.
