- Funny, how the police describe fighting and resisting arrest when there are no cameras to record what they do, but in all the chance incidents--it looks like police and security are tasing people as an alternative to actually having to touch them.
1. Student tasered for not stopping asking questions and resisting being pulled away from a mike? That is worth 50K volts?
2. Woman tased for leaving a bar but not going over to a cop car? Then tasered again as she was handcuffed and screaming in the squad car...taser now a "shut up device"?
3. Man who was upset because his he could not meet his mom at the airport and was afraid...police tased him until he died. That is worth a man''s life
4. Man does not sign a speeding ticket and does not come back pronto when the cop tells him to. Tased because he did not "hop to it" as well as "hop out of the car"?
Not one of these incidents indicate the officer was in danger, nor was anyone else. But it does appear that the taser is the weapon of choice, above reasoning, use of manual handling and/or ignoring a person.
We are nearer to a police state than we know.
All we need are the rape rooms--we already have a mindset to accept torture and a group of "legitimate thugs" that we feel have the right to do what they want to average citizens. Of course it is torture--but we are for torture these days, ultimately we feel tasering the above people will help stop terrorism. WE don''t know how...but we were told it would--so some of us believe. - Reply to this comment
- Torture is
being tied to a bed,fed bread and water, forced to walk the floor all night, water thrown in the face ,beaten, bullyed, abused.
It is not if a child is told to mind and he/she does not and they are grounded.
Taser is as they do kill. IT is used to attack seniors ,children.handicapped, heart patents, persons with issues.
I have seen them taser helpless persons and it is barbaric. - Reply to this comment
- If a cop is required to use a baton to subdue a person in order to get the cuffs on, then the cop is going to be required to beat the person over the head until unconscious. The tazer gets the job done without multiple contusions to the skull.

- The taser has become (as USAyesterday says) like the words torture or racism. The use of the taser has been cheapened by the police who use it for the least infraction. Posted by whatithink at 07:04 PM
This is so true. When tasers were first introduced, I had understood that it was an alternative to using guns in a potentially dangerous situation. Potentially dangerous being that the other guy had a knife or some other weapon. Instead, time after time, we have witnessed it being used on unarmed and non-dangerous people, like the young man in Utah. These are people without criminal records, not on drugs, and either just being irritating or argumentative. Those are not good reasons to taser a person!!!! Sorry, but as public employees, which the police are, they do not have public consensus on using these things willy nilly just to get a thrill. Like the cop in Utah, who just pulled it right on out there, no discussion no nothing, and tazered the guy not only one, but twice while he was already immobolized. And then, when the other officer came over, he says "This guy thought he was in charge, so I tazered him." What a creep. - Reply to this comment
- UN is right. I"m against torture unless it is meant to draw the truth.
If we ever find Osama we should give him some flowers and ask if he was responsible for the 9/11 attacks and then if he answers thats okay but if he dont we wont insist anymore.
According to prosecutor Steve its the C.S.I. effect. People have come to expect that science will provide a proof or answer to every question. - Reply to this comment
- If a person coughs, the police use the taser.

- screen_ident,
No, the point is whether it is a baton or a taser, the vast majority in our society lets it happen with impunity. Nothing is worse than a sadistic person with the authority to do whatever they want to do, taser or baton or gun. - Reply to this comment
- screen_ident,
Have you ever seen a police officer (or a few) trashing someone with a baton (or a few)? Not pretty. What was worse was seeing the smiles on their faces while they did it. - Reply to this comment
- Tazering a pregnant woman could possibly result in a charge of death to an unborn child, but that isnt any different from cop thrashing a pregnant woman with baton.

- I call it hate radio, as it follows in the tradition of Father Charles Coughlin''''s radio show. At the time of his radio show, he had millions upon millions of listeners who just loved his hate rhetoric. Unfortunately, it continues with us today. Some priest, eh?

Now if tazering cause ABORTIONS, these un-American despots would be writing legislation right now to outlaw tazers. Preserving life never applies to anyone THEY don''t care about. So much for the teachings of Jesus. Only the scripture distortions that justify their acquisition of more power are "useful" to them. - Reply to this comment
- radiob,
I guess NWO means New World Order. Radiob, there has always been a NWO. The U.N. is part of it, but so are all the people whom we elect. - Reply to this comment

- "Sadly, so many people have taken the word "torture" and have cheapened it... much like the word "racism" has been cheapened. There are cases of torture and cases of racism that deserve to be labeled as such, but with the cheapened term, it no longer becomes clear... when someone claims either... if that is actually the case.

- I answer this in the same way that I answer people complaining about hazing with sororities and fraternities. Some people think people complain about all forms of hazing being banned and we should look at the scale of hazing. I say, if people didn''t haze or torture or commit racism at the level that they did, then we would be where we are. So the complaint about hazing or torture or racism does not lie with the person complaining about it today, it lies with the person who perpetrated it yesterday. - Reply to this comment
- Generally taseing follows some action of conduct that brings law enforcement (the cops) to the conclusion that words don''t seem to be working and something stronger apparently needs to be done.
In the "good old days" the next step up the ladder was the billy club. A number of citizens who were too stupid to give up ended up dead due to the billy club. Others, who were not quite so stupid, or had a higher level of tolerence were only given concussions, or bruises. Of course the next step up the "old ladder" was the Colt 45 for the really unreasonable and threating.
The world seems to forget that the real victim is society (that is the rest of us) that law enforcement is trying to protect.
The UN (pronounced un as in unstable, unsuccessful, ungrateful, unworkable, and unreliable) probably thinks that talking should work, a political solution as it were. Of course this is completely theoretical as the UN has yet to be demonstrate it as being effective in Africa, Asia, or anywhere else... - Reply to this comment
- I agree with you. But, it seems that others think not the same. Some people are worried about the U.N. imposing its will on us, while they readily accept the U.S. invading other countries and imposing our will on others.

The problem with the UN is that they are a part of the NWO which we are all starting to see. - Reply to this comment
