it means you are lucky that INSTEAD of getting your arse shot by a gun OR getting MOBBED by 5 cops with batons..you were shot with a tazer TO CONTROL YOUR ARSE..because if you find yourself in that situation..CHANCES ARE YOU ARE ASKING FOR IT..

tazer is one of the safest alternate that most law enforcement can use against a combatant. you dont like being tazered?? then dont do anything stupid..

So according to the manufacturer of tazers, If I hit someone with my car and he dies 4 days later, the car didn''t kill him-the doctor did.
works if I shoot someone too right? We need to release a lot of people from prison because the person they shot or stabbed died later in-hospital. The new Tazer standard is you must die on the spot to link the cause.

1. Student tasered for not stopping asking questions and resisting being pulled away from a mike? That is worth 50K volts?

2. Woman tased for leaving a bar but not going over to a cop car? Then tasered again as she was handcuffed and screaming in the squad car...taser now a "shut up device"?

3. Man who was upset because his he could not meet his mom at the airport and was afraid...police tased him until he died. That is worth a man''''s life

4. Man does not sign a speeding ticket and does not come back pronto when the cop tells him to. Tased because he did not "hop to it" as well as "hop out of the car"?

Not one of these incidents indicate the officer was in danger, nor was anyone else. But it does appear that the taser is the weapon of choice, above reasoning, use of manual handling and/or ignoring a person.

We are nearer to a police state than we know.
All we need are the rape rooms--we already have a mindset to accept torture and a group of "legitimate thugs" that we feel have the right to do what they want to average citizens. Of course it is torture--but we are for torture these days, ultimately we feel tasering the above people will help stop terrorism. WE don''''t know how...but we were told it would--so some of us believe.

That low life was not who I had in mind. They best do the same to him . I am talkings about the ones that never asked for torture but had to put up with it. The bad guys they ask for it and should have the same done them. I hate bullies and others who abuse.
The US need to be told tasering is unacceptable and wrong. The first place the UN need to start with is taser happy cops. My friend brought up a good point. When a person is tasered they have no idea what it does each person as eash person''s system is different and react differently to it. Where as it might harm one but will the next. Yes there are barbaric persons bent on torturing as well in all walks of life. I was the child tied to the bed etc as adults felt the blind is evil. Torture has gone on since the beginning human kind. I can''t understand the mindsets of those who torture. My also said tasers should be outlawed.

This is tough one. Do we talk about politics or should we be discussing the article?

As an engineer I would like to believe that the appropriate testing had been conducted by the suppliers of tasers. However, in a real development cycle its certainly possible that some testing can be overlooked in an effort to get the product to market.

I could mention several cases where this did not happen and the end result is a recall, often after someone is injured or killed. It is tragic when someone is killed, my daughters friend lost her father during a stand off with police. It was a routine traffic stop that esculated to point where he eventually took his own life. He was tasered during the events that led him to take his own life.

However, I have not seen anyone discuss how many deaths that did not occur because the officer used a taser rather than a gun.

As far as politics and Ron Paul go, please stick with the topic.
